Default It's WEEKEND Chat Time!

Good morning! Did you hear my dog alarm? Jazz started crying at 4 this morning, probably because he knew Tash was upstairs with me. Anyhow, this means I get to see the sunrise - eventually.

I spent yesterday herding dogs from one part of the house to the other as the guys replaced my four outside doors. They were done by 2 so I spent the rest of the day with tea and some hand sewing and feel better for it. Early bed last night for us all.

It's village clean-up morning but I've already done my part. I cleaned out all the Village planters and have six bags of dead plants and Christmas greenery ready for pick-up. I was asked to do hot dogs for the workers and said "No"! I plan to start doing that more often. I may skip Jazz's last obedience class this afternoon in favour of a nap. He's as ready as he'll ever be for the therapy dog testing next Sunday. I have to put in an appearance at a soccer game this afternoon followed by a pot-luck that the girls are doing to thank parents and coaches. I'll be strong and eat mindfully.

So what's happening chez-toi this fine Spring weekend?

Good morning on this beautiful and sunny Saturday!

Ruth, how's your cold? You sound like you're feeling much better today.

Jake wants to leave early this morning to turn in his copper before we go for breakfast and some grocery shopping. I may persuade him to stop by that great Amish plant nursery, too.
I don't have any set plans for the afternoon, except for making a loaf of homemade bread for our new neighbors and going over to introduce myself.

A loaf of homemade bread is a wonderful welcoming gift and traditional too.
Feeling a bit perkier. The dogs are all back in their beds and are snoring! I wish I could go to the nursery with you - our garden centres open this weekend but it's still a bit cold at night for anything except pansies.

Good morning Slept in a little this morning but stayed up late finishing a book last night (started the book the night before. I haven't done that in a long time!). It's another lovely day here and we are off to the waterfall today.

Ruth - Glad to hear you took some time to rest and are feeling better today. Hooray for saying "no"!

Cottage - Sounds like a lovely, relaxing Saturday.

Heidi - thinking of you

Last night my parents tried vegetables on the grill and loved them. Little by little their eating habits are getting better. This all started because my Mom was being my Mom and caretaking so cooking for me. Now they eat lots of the same things You just never know how SBD will impact those around you.

Hope your Saturday has plenty of sunshine

Good morning!! What a beautiful day so far....

Ruth - Congratulations on saying that word "no". You do sound (hmmm...on a computer?) that you feel better.

Cottage - very thoughtful with the bread! Homemade bread sounds fabulous...wonder if that would fit in the weekend.

Cyndi - glad you're enjoying you time. How do you actually grill your veggies? My friend is having a pampered chef party, and although expensive, they do last a looooonnnng time. I saw this: http://www.pamperedchef.com/our_prod...tegoryCode=NEW
but thought it would be a BUMMER to clean. Any thoughts?

Karen- glad you're enjoying your vacation!!

Me - finally, a saturday off. Last one was 5 weeks ago...I slept til 7:20!! WOOOooOOOO! I want to start the garden today (if the husband is willing to help), clean the house and do the other regular stuff too. I better remember I have to help with DS's sunday school tomorrow too.

Have a great day!

Morning All!
Wow, I've missed you!! It has been a crazy few weeks here with school. End of the year nuttiness, but coming together. I finally have my spring break this week, then we go back for 3 weeks and are finished. Can't wait.
Will be spending my "break" mostly working on school stuff, but want to have a little fun too.

It stormed all night and is still thundering. We could use the rain, but bummer for folks going to Jazz Fest. We plan on going next Saturday and hope the weather is ok then.

I teach Language Arts and we finished our reading program yesterday, so now I have to figure out lesson plans for the next 3 weeks for review and also make 15 powerpoints to go with them. whew. Guess I'd better get started. Hope everyone has a grand weekend!

Twynn - I have something like this.
I cut the veggies into chunks, toss with some Newman's rf dressing and dump the whole thing on the grill. Peppers, zucchini and mushrooms are easy and fast. Asparagus is amazing on the grill.

Hmmm...is yours nonstick cyndi? I've had bad experiences with that on the grill. I think something stainless steel would be easier to keep clean, yours FAR easier than the pampered chef one. I think I have something to shop for now!

Hi Everyone

My day is tweaked because we went in for our health fair blood draw at 630AM...There was no reason to get up earlier w/o coffee.

Good news! I haven't been checking BP daily, because I lent my machine to Mom. 118/80 She said "You're right on!" I almost cried on the spot! A year ago I was on meds and still high! Thanks SBD and friends here! No meds for months!

So, I mentioned on the way home I needed to "plan" exercise today and Kirk said lets pool, so I'm riding my bike in shortly.

Have a great day everyone! I'll be back to visit later!

Morning Chicks (or for most of you, Good Afternoon)!

Ruth, so glad you are feeling a bit better! Sick on the weekend is no fun at all!

Cottage, YUM! I hope you get to stop at the nursery... That's one of my favorite things to do. I love being surrounded by all the beautiful plants/flowers!

Cyndi, It is so great that your SBD habits have rubbed off on your parents! Way to go!

Karen, Sounds like you're having a great time!! I wish I was there to take a walk on the beach with you!

Twynn, Yay for your weekend and sleeping in (although for me 7:20 would be waking up EARLY! lol). I hope you get your gardening done.

Cat, Hello! Nice to meet you. Enjoy your spring break!

Debbie, AWESOME NEWS ABOUT YOUR BP!!!!! So happy for you! Keep up the good work!

Kierie, I hope your knees and hips feel better quickly! Good luck with the clean out job!

I'm in the process of making some veggie/sirloin kabobs for a BBQ today. When I asked what we would be having, I realized I definitely needed to bring something that wasn't covered in a sugary bbq sauce or completely marbled with fat... Although ribs and skirt steak sound mouth-watering! So, I'm making enough for everyone. I'm going to be like Cyndi and encourage everyone there to eat healthy!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Hi friends!

Thank you so much for the prayers and good thoughts and for the PMs. Things are pretty rough here this weekend so I haven't had time to reply but your notes really mean a lot. I plan to head home late tomorrow, but I'm not sure how long I'll stay there.

Hi chicks....it has been a busy weekend! We had to be at a 5k early this morning (this is an annual event in our school district), followed by a birthday party, then we had a social at church! I have not accomplished anything that really needed doing today but it was a fun Saturday! I have to be a proud mom here for a minute and tell you about my 9 year old. His PE teacher encouraged him to participate in the 5k so we signed him up. He's a great soccer player and runs quite a bit with that but I wasn't sure he could really do a 5k but he actually won for his age group! His time was 24 minutes and a few seconds! I was really shocked that he did so well!
Heidi...I've been thinking about you
Karen...a walk on the beach sounds so nice!
Debbie...Great news and good job!
Kelly....Veggie/steak kabobs sound so good! YUM
Twynn...It's nice to have a Saturday to get things done...mine wasn't like that today!
