I take Womens One-A-Day multivitamins, but about 15 minutes later I get an intense feeling of nausea. It doesn't last long, but it's still horrible and I dread it every day.
I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this and if you have a recommendation for a different vitamin that's maybe easier on the stomach...
That has happened to me as well, but that was when I was taking the vitamin with a cup of coffee and no food. Making sure I had food already in my stomach when I took my vitamin made the sickness better.
c laura, I take it with breakfast, but I don't eat much for breakfast.
I haven't tried taking it at different times during the day, I guess I always associate vitamins with the morning, but if it doesn't really make any difference, I will give that a shot. Then when this bottle is gone, I will try something different!
I used the same multivitamin for years, and only in the past six months has it started making me nauseated. Perhaps my stomach can't handle it the same way as I get older. Who knows? Anyway, making sure I take it after breakfast has made all the difference. And I don't eat a heavy breakfast -- cottage cheese and a slice of toast most mornings. But it's enough to buffer the vitamin.
I cannot take the one-a-day vitamins. I get really bad nausea with them. Even if taking them on a full stomach! I just take the vitamins I feel I need separately.
I used to get nauseous from my birth control pill. I asked the pharmacisit what to do. He suggested taking it at bedtime. He said the nausea from most prescriptions is mild and once you are asleep you won't notice it. It worked.
You can take vitamins any time of the day. There is no reason it has to be taken only in the a.m.
This used to happen to me, but I have found that even ONE slice of bread will take care of the problem-- you just have to do it right.
I have one piece of toast cut in half. Eat the first half, take the vitamins with a full glass of water and then eat the other half. Otherwise, I feel yucky the whole day!
This happens with me too, I haven't found it any different with other multi vitamins, so I haven't been taking any. The suggestion to eat it with bread definitely works, depends on your plan though.
Multivitamins (with or without iron) always made me sick to the point of throwing up. Eating with them didn't make a difference, either. I started taking a double dose of children's gummy vitamins and that solved the problem. I just get the big container of bear shaped ones at Costco because they're a lot cheaper than Flintstones and other ones like that.
