I know most consider a stall to be atleast 4 weeks, but really after 2 weeks of no movement it's really frustrating and my body keeps doing it. I will drop 5lbs in a week or 2 weeks then it will just stop and for anywhere from 2-4 weeks my weight won't move at all even if I am OP. Then all the sudden I will miracously drop a few more lbs and it happens again. It's really frustrating. I try to change things up about my diet like I will switch it up for a few days and do low carb, not cutting it out completly but watching my carb. and sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Right now I'm stuck between 210.6-211.6 and I really want it to move into the 0's ya know.
I have my last weigh in for the Biggest Loser contest next friday and I have only been able to lose about 5lbs since the last weigh in which was the end of March. I have people in this competition losing 20lbs in a month. I'm proud of my success so far but it's frustrating when others peoples bodies seem to cooraporate with them more.
What are some ways you guys get past the frustration cuz a lot of times it makes me feel like just giving up! Even though I know that is stupid because I have come a long way and I know weight loss is not easy!
Welcome to my life!!!!!!! We are even stuck at the exact same spot!
I'm kinda stuck at 211... I got to 210 then bounced to 212 then back down to 211.... I was stuck at 218 for AGES too....
Each time I've been really stuck, I've tried a bunch of things-- increasing exercise, dropping calories, changing around what I eat, and nothing seems to work. Then, magically, I drop down and realize I'm stuck at a new weight.
For me, I'm averaging a lb a week or 4 lbs a month. The problem is that I usually lose all four pounds over a course of a few days and spend the rest of the month stuck....I know some people weigh monthly for that reason, but I need the control of daily weighing.
Here are some of the things I do: I take pix and look at them. I focus on compliments I receive. I remind myself of previous higher weights where I felt stuck, remembering that I no longer weigh that much any more.
I'm so attuned to my body now that I almost always "know" when I'm ready to lose.
This is very much how I am losing. I personally think of stalls as being something that happens for a week or two, while you're definitely on plan, and plateaus as being much longer than that. I've only had one experience I'd call a plateau, which went on for about five or six weeks. Stalls, well, I have those for a couple of weeks every month, and while they irritate the heck out of me, I know if I stick to it, I'll eventually have a couple of fabulous days on the scale, when I will lose the majority of the weight I'm going to lose that month.
Add me to the party. If I have any pattern it's that I drop big in a week and then hold on for dear life for a month.
Check out Uber's pictures she posted a few days ago in another thread. Honestly, THAT is what's kept me going these past few days with an entirely new outlook. And that fact that SHE didn't see the difference...well that gives me courage to understand that I too am blinded by own fat loss. But others see it, and the change is there.
Also, my gym has a handy little hand held thing that measures body fat percentage and I lost 4 full percentage points while holding steady at the same weight. Yeah, that's good!
I know I only lose 2 weeks a month. I have been working on this about 18 months and this has been my pattern for some time. I am averaging 4-5 pounds a month for the last 4 months and I lose those at the last two weeks of the month. I know it has to do with water retention and TOM so I try not to get to frustrated.
Since this is a contest and you want the best results are you considering doing wrestler style weight cut right before weigh in? I am pretty sure I would since it is a contest.

Okay maybe I'm reading this wrong, but what do you mean by "even if I am OP". Does that mean you are pretty much 100% on plan all the time, or you go OFF plan occasionally too? So your weight stalls when you are on and off plan? How often do you go off plan?
I don't know this to be fact, or even possible, but *FOR ME* I can go off plan for a few days and nothing happens on the scale...and I call it maintaince. There have also been times that I've "cheated" and it doesn't show on the scale for a few days. Is it a possibility that sometimes you might just wipe out your calorie deficit with a few "treats"? I'm not knocking treats, most people seem to really want/need/have to have them, but there is a small price to pay.
I hardly ever go OFF plan. I probably have maybe twice this month and it was like having one thing I shouldn't... not like bingeing. I haven't been gaining at all, I either maintain or lose, and lately it's just been maintaining.
Nikki, I have thought about that and other people have told me to do it. I know it's not healthy and it's definitely not something I would try over and over, but for the last weigh in would it really hurt? My step dad told me about some colon cleanse his doctor told him to use that is over the counter and flushes your system out. He said it would make you drop 5-10lbs in water and waste in 24 hours. And my trainer told me to drink 2 gallons of water a day leading up to the weigh-in then the last two days before only drink 1 gallon, then go sit in the Sauna for an hour before the weigh-in. I guess we shall see next week.
I did change my diet up this week. I usually just calorie count, but this week I am watching my carbs and sugar including natural as well. Hoping that maybe switching that up will make me lose again.
Your trainer told you to drink 2 gallons of water a day??? Are you kidding me? Good heavens, has he ever heard of electrolyte imbalances? People do die from that. Just weigh in and be happy about your awesome 50 pound loss...who cares if you don't win, you did the best you could.
Lori- I would never drink 2 gallons of water girl. lol. I hardly can drink 1 in a day. And I actually have heard of people dying from that too, so I didn't plan on trying that one! HE HE! And I am really happy with the weight I have lost I still have some ways to go, but I know I will get there...eventually lol.
