Default Cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soups?

Are these allowed on either phase 1 or 2?
And if they are, is it the low fat or the regular ones?

we would need to see an ingredient list but I bet neither will be SBD safe due to starches used to thicken them.

*looking at Campbells there are simple starches used for thickening and off plan oils (corn, cottonseed). Not sure about other brands

Well, here are the ingredients in the Healthy Choice Cream of Chicken:
CHICKEN STOCK, WATER, MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, CHICKEN MEAT, MALTODEXTRIN, CREAM (MILK), CONTAINS LESS THAN 1% OF: WHEAT FLOUR, VEGETABLE OIL, SOY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, CORNSTARCH, SALT, POTASSIUM CHLORIDE, LOWER SODIUM NATURAL SEA SALT, FLAVORING, MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, CHICKEN FAT, YEAST EXTRACT, DISODIUM GUANYLATE, DISODIUM INOSINATE, SODIUM PHOSPHATE, SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE, SPICE, BETA CAROTENE (FOR COLOR), DEHYDRATED CHICKEN.

I would not consider this on plan with the modified food starch, cornstarch, more modified food starch (why is that in two places??), and wheat flour. However, I'm sure others will have more thoughts about the amount of those ingredients.

On the receipe I have it says not to use healthy choice, to use the regular one...but I would be surprised if that made a difference. I'm surprised to see it on this website...and I actually had it for dinner a few nights ago....hum...

I'd like to know too. I like those soups. Any good recipes for us to make our own?

I hope some other chicks weigh in because I tend to be more of a purist about this stuff.

Here is the ingredient list for cream of mushroom. I can't find the list for regular cream of chicken
Water, Mushrooms, Vegetable Oil (Corn, Cottonseed, Canola and/or Soybean)Modified Food Starch, Wheat Flour, contains Less than 2% of: Cream (Milk)Salt, Dried Whey (Milk)Monosodium Glutamate, Soy Protein Concentrate, Yeast Extract, Spice Extract, Dehydrated Garlic.

Cyndi you are right about the cornstarch and wheat flour but aren't we allowed to have oils in moderation in Phase 1?

Mmc, I haven't made homemade cream of mushroom soup in a while, but it's pretty easy to make.

I sauté mushrooms and onions together until lightly golden brown, then add a vegetable bouillon cube and evaporated skim milk, and heat through. I use my immersion blender to puree it, but leave some chunks in there, too. You can adjust the liquid according to how thick you like your soup.
