Default Half Marathon on Sunday

I will be jogging only 1/3 of the half marathon, and I plan on walking the rest. I am so nervous and excited. My goal is to finish before the official cut off point of 3.5 hours, although they will keep the finish line open for 7 (for the full marathoners). I know I am just walking, but I never dreamed in my life that I would do something like walk in a half marathon. The weather is supposed to be pretty ugly, with heavy rain showers expected most of the race. I guess that is better than extreme heat. I cannot wait until Sunday morning!

You go girl! Enjoy the half! You will be great!

It rained on me some last week in mine, and it did keep the temperature down! Take spare shoes & socks, extra pants and shirt if you have room and change after the race. If it is going to be cool, try to pack a spare jacket or sweatshirt, too. The fresh shoes afterward were fantastic, and the warm pants and jacket were a lifesaver... I was much more chilled afterward that i expected to be...

Congrats to you on your half marathon. Thanks for the tips. I didn't even think of bringing extra clothes. I know I will need them too, because it is supposed to be one of those all day steady rains. I would like to enjoy going to the post race party without freezing to death.

So glad you posted this! I'm doing a 15K on Sunday in cold, rainy, crap weather! Hoping to run half, walk half. Totally scared! But I'm hoping that it will make me more prepared for my half marathon on May 2 (the Flying Pig). I tend to get caught up in the energy of the other runners and go too fast (which leads to side cramps), so I'm going to start out walking so that all the fast people can be far ahead of me.

Good luck
