So a month ago, I placed an on line order with See's candies and delayed the shipment. I did this for 2 reasons:
1. ordered a chocolate bunny for my son's easter basket
2. I planned on eating it all.....seriously.
Anyhow, I started Fat Smashing on March 9th and have been doing GREAT. I got an email 2 days ago saying the candy has been shipped.
I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to waste money by throwing/giving away what I ordered, but I KNOW having my favorite chocolates (butterscotch squares) in the universe in my house will be bad.
I don't know anything about your diet plan, but could you pre-portion the candy and then freeze it in the individual portions. That might make it easier to only eat one serving at a time, plus it takes longer when it's frozen. Not everyone can stop once they start, so if you can't, then throw it away or give it away. It is better to waste money that have it end up on your backside, right?
Give it to someone who deserves a treat, and who'll be able to eat it in moderation.
It'll make the person's day and you'll feel good because a) you did a kind thing (so your money wasn't wasted) and b) you avoided temptation that you don't need at this point in your journey.
Call a friend today while your willpower is still strong, tell them you are receiving some extra chocolate that you can't eat and ask them if they want it. They'll know it's coming, so when it arrives you can't change your mind about giving it away.
I've never had See's candy but I've heard it's dangerous to have around
I'm of the "out of sight, out of mind" mentality. I bought a small Cadbury's Fruit n' Nut bar for my hubby and then we bought a $1 chocolate bar for some fundraising thing. I don't like F n' N so that wasn't a big deal, but I chucked both bars in the frig and it's still there. My hubby will occasionally eat a piece of both, but since I don't see it on the counter, I totally forget it's in the house and I don't even think about it for a snack. From your post, it sounds like you forgot about it until you got the email, so this method might work for you. Individual portions is a great idea too!
See, if it were in my freezer I would hear it calling for me.
You wasted the money when you bought the food. Now it's a sunk cost. Treat it like you would a gift. Should you eat it or not? Clearly, no, so give it away or throw it away.
I mean, what's better: wasting $X AND eating 2000 calories you don't need or just wasting $X?
This sort of choice--the sort of choice the "old you" would never have made--is the exact sort of thing that builds confidence and will power and pride.
