Default Weight training for dummies? (beginners)

Does anyone have suggestions on where I can read up or watch videos to help me with basic weight training?

I know how important it is, and I'm not afraid of the scale not moving as quickly because of it. I just honestly have no idea where to begin/what exercises to do. I can probably get my hands on some 5lb weights, or something like that.

Right now I power walk 5-6 times a week for 40-60 minutes, and I also play in a softball league. I'm not doing any weight training at all.

Any help would be much appreciated. I tried the search function but didn't really find what I was looking for. If I missed an obvious post/sticky, I apologize. Thanks!

I think there is a lot of good advice on weight training at stumptuous.com

The row of choices at the very top of the site is most helpful. Here is also a good link on her site called "From Dork to Diva" which shows a lot of exercises and pictures of their form.

Don't know if that is exactly what you were looking for. Good luck! I'm sure there are people on 3FC who can direct you to some great workouts.

Thank you! I also realized there is a separate forum for weight training, so I feel a bit like a dumbarse. I'm going to check that out and then head over there to do some more reading.
