Grocery store NSV!

  • It's sort of sad how thrilled I am at such a small victory, but it's a big deal to me I HAD to go to the store today to get stuff for DH's care packages. I haven't been in 3 weeks (maybe longer, but 3 weeks ago was when I started changing my life, so that's how long I've been paying attention :lol) and I was really nervous that I would walk in and suddenly lose my mind and grab everything in sight. I have very, very bad impulse control.

    BUT!

I made it out of there with only healthy stuff for me!!! No chips! No cheez its! No cookies! No giant block of cheddar! No cream cheese! No ritz with american!!!! YAY!!!!! I'm so proud, even though it's just a small victory.

On another note, my cart was sort of amusing to look at, because some of it was fresh veggies, fat free 100 cal popcorn, walk away the pounds dvd...and the other half was just PILED with junk, almost overflowing, every kind of prepackaged, nuke-able food you can think of. Now the real challenge will be not to eat anything I bought for DH. I'm going to try to box it all up tonight so it's that much harder to get to :lol

Just had to share, because I'm so happy!
  • you are awesome. The grocers is one of the hardest places at times. Good for you!
  • Great job!
  • Thanks guys! The grocery store is the hardest place for me right now. I do ok at home where I can just not have junk food around...but at the store, all my favorites are just right there, waiting to be snatched up
  • Good job! Shopping can be tough, sometimes it makes me want things I would never have thought about if I hadn't seen in in the shop.

Also good for you being good while buying stuff for your husband, phew, if my husband still had my buy him junk I'd never got this far. Awesome willpower!
  • You sound just like me when I first started my weight loss journey, walk away the pounds dvd and all I was also scared to walk into the grocery store the first time. I intentionally skipped the chip aisle and bakery and just had my husband pick what he wanted then place them in a separate cupboard when we got home. This was about the time I discovered Leslie Sansone videos as well. I am a huge fan now with 13 of her videos, the belt, weights and tension band too. I highly recommend sticking with her videos, they are great.
You deserve to feel proud, awesome job!
