Default Hey Lovely People! Slimming down for my big day :)

Hello Everyone

So, I was searching for a website for some additional support on my weight loss quest and this is the site that really stood out. So inspirational and informative how could I not sign up??? I have been over weight all my life. I have not let that get in the way of my happiness and dreams though, yet my weight issues always been there. As of right now I am about 240 pounds--after I graduated college I ballooned out to about 280 (my largest weight ever) and then 2 years later I slimmed down to about 230. I am re-focusing and trying to lose weight and keep it off once and for all!

I am trying to do a full life-style change and not doing like a "crash diet." I have been up and down with my weight for awhile now and I am focusing on being healthy, glowing and fit! In about a year and a half from now I am getting married, and between then and now I want to loose 100 pounds ideally. I want to be able to look the best that I have ever been also I will be 30 @ that point in which I also want to usher in that era of my life with a hot-bod.

I am sticking to one helping for each meal, cutting out most sweets (such a sweet tooth!) and also doing Tae-Bo every other day and Bellydance/Yoga on alternating days.

Just coming to this website keeps my sight focused on my weight loss goal. Quite simply--thank you all for being here!

Welcome, glad to have you on board.

If you are not going to follow a specific diet plan (I don't either) I highly recommend calorie counting online. It's so fast and easy now and ridiculously eye opening. I truly feel that this has been the single most important contributor to my loss over the past several months.

I'll always remember when I was driving home one night and really craving and old favorite...the Dairy Queen Large Chocolate Extreme Blizzard. Fortunately there wasn't one around or else I might have succumbed. The next day I looked it up.....1480 calories!!!WOW!!! I started to think about what 1480 calories was in healthy food, how much gym time it was, etc.

I have not had a craving for that since

Hey!!! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! How exciting! I just got married last year, and I had the best time.

I'm the same as you - I've done crash diets and lost weight, but I always gained mine right back plus some. You have the right idea!

Are you doing Tae-Bo and bellydancing in a class, or on a dvd?

thanks for the support! randomcards that is a great story/advice! i will go research the calorie counting online. your story reminds me of when i first looked at the book "eat this not that" and saw how many pieces of bacon was equal to eating a twix bar, the answer was so gross that i never wanted to eat another twix bar ever! also, pokeycactus (great name by the way) i am doing a mix of actual classes and videos. currently i am going to one bellydance class per month and i also do yoga 1-2 times per week at a local yoga place (both classes are "by donation" which is fabulous and easy on the wallet) the tae bo video i have been doin is Billy Blanks Tae Bo Cardio which came out in 2004 i think. its about 45 mins long and he gives you a great workout, at the end there is about 5-8 mins of guided tai chi that is so wonderful in stretching out and centering the spirit/mind. as for belly dancing that i do is "Veena and Neena Slim Down" its a 30 min video which really works your entire body and enhances natural curves. Slim Down is seems low impact but it really helps to shed the pounds VERY QUICKLY! more importantly, both of those videos are very very fun and the instructor(s) are very engaging and supportive.

Hey! I too am slimming for my big day, mine being in August this year! How are your plans going? Have you started to make any yet?

I dont know about you but my motivation right now is looking my best to walk down the aisle, really making everyone in the church gasp at me as I enter and walk down. The thought of a really really hot summer and a gorgeous honeymoon approaching is kinda motivational too. I have a lot of new clothes that I really want to wear during that week!

sh3l5--I totally have the same inspiration right now, u took the words right out of my mouth! I am going to be seeing people that I haven't seen in over 5 years and would love to see them gasp at the new me. Also, I love the idea of new honeymoon clothes! Its so easy to get caught up in the fantasy of it all ITS A GOOD THING! I plan on getting married NEXT summer time, so it leaves me with a bit of time to lose weight. I haven't started really *REALLY* planning yet, just preliminary stuff like color themes and what we DONT want @ the wedding. Best of luck to u and a happy transformation

For all of you getting married and losing weight, just one recommendation about your wedding dress -- I wouldn't buy it way ahead of time if you're still on your weight loss journey with plans to still lose quite a bit before your big day. I did that (we were only engaged 4 months though, so didn't have a lot of choise there) and then I lost weight, and when I went to pick up the dress, I had lost enough that they had to have the seamstress refit the dress and alter it. Good reason to alter, but a last-minute expense I wasn't counting on. :-) If you do get your dress early (it's hard NOT to get excited about that!), at least you'll be prepared for the possible extra expense. Too all of you, best of luck in reaching your goal, and congratulations brides-to-be!

Ive had my dress for about a month, I want to slim another stone before the big day. I am more than prepared to have the dress altered if it needs to be. Either way I know it fits now, I know it will fit if I dont loose any more and I know it can be altered if I get smaller. Its a win win situation from where I am standing.

My dress was custom made and a steal at just under £10 - was the postage costs that boosted the amount up, still a stunning dress for under £70

that is a great tip about the wedding dress, Mom2TCS--i will def. wait to buy one until and slim down considerably! i think they style/colors of dress and what will look good on me will change with my body shape. too bad white is not the best color for larger bodies. . .there is no place to hide the bigger parts! i like the idea of a white dress with some colored accents, maybe red or gold
