Default Arm skin NSV

I was watching one of my favorite tv shows last night, The Real Housewives of Orange County, a real guilty pleasure if there ever was one. As I watched a super tense, and overly scripted, scene with Lynne Curtin http://www.bravotv.com/the-real-hous...o/lynne-curtin and her husband, I noticed something. Now Lynne is super fit and I imagine works out alot at least that is what she implies on the show. She also sports tons of sun damage on her skin. But here's is what I noticed...she has loose, wrinkly skin on her arms!

I am somewhat self conscious of holding my arms a certain way so that you don't see the wrinkly skin on my arms. I do have some smaller bat wings going and I do think it is somewhat due to my weight loss. About 4-5 weeks ago I incorporated assisted dips on the assisted pull-up machine, in addition to my regular weight training routine. My upper arms are noticeably smaller. And I verified it by measuring them. They are down 1" around! I've always felt my arms were beefier than most people's arms but now they are becoming more defined.

Sorry about the ramble! But my point is that if Lynne Curtin's arms are toned, but still wrinkly, then I don't feel so bad about my toned and wrinkly arms. Pathetic I know...it took watching a cheesy reality show for me to have an epiphany about my arms.

You've made your arms strong & they are getting stronger. That's quite a feat. Don't lose sight of your accomplishment.

I watch the ladies of Orange County, too, and my fascination is also mingled with guilt, but there's also some fear & self-recognition going on. I watch themwhile working on the elliptical after work, and then I ask myself hard questions, like:

"Be honest. Is that your goal? To be one of them?"

and

"What does it say about a society in which women are afraid to age and die?"

and

"Should sexual vanity ever end? Is there an age when we just should stop it?"

and

"Is this a sign of being really, really dependent on continued male funding & male approval? That you always have to keep the pasha entertained?"

In the beginning, when I only half-watched, the nearly identical Orange ladies confused me. I have since sorted them out, but in those days, I only knew Lynne because she was The Brunette.

But now Lynne in particular of all the ladies haunts my dreams. Specifically, because of one scene from the show that kept showing up on my TV every time I turned it onto this channel, or so it seemed. The one in which she's sitting up in the plastic surgeon's office after her latest operations. They've just taken the bandages away. Her new face is vaseline-shiny or after-birth shiny & her mouth looks so wide & stretched, I'm afraid it's going to tear at the corners. Her eyes look like a startled horse's. Her eyebrows, I realize, will never move again. The expression on her face is truly ghastly -- haunting, to me.

I thought: "Frankenstein."

I'd better learn to love those two parallel lines I'm developing right between my eyebrows, because the alternative is really kinda ... scary. Not to mention expensive, especially for the likes of me, earning my own living & raised to believe paying down my mortgage first is my first priority.
