Default Am I being a Debbie Downer or just realistic?

I just looked back at a lot of my posts and every time I get excited about a loss, I always qualify it with something like "it's probably just water weight." Do you think I'm being too negative with myself? Is it ok to be excited about a change in numbers that might not be as awesome as it looks? Opinions, please!

GET EXCITED! Even if it's one pound. I weighed in this morning and to my surprise realized I lost five pounds. I did a happy dance right there. I was so happy I made an extra effort to eat especially well today. Getting excited helps you stay motivated.

BE EXCITED!!!!

Seriously, one of the best things I've been told is that no matter how much weight you lose each week. Look at that as a pound, half a pound, quarter of a pound, tenth.... GONE FOREVER. I'm in this for permanent weight loss and life style change.

So I'll take what I can get.

It does get frustrating, but you're along for the ride. Take what you can get and know that what you're doing DOES make a difference. Even when the scale doesn't tell you what you want it to, it's those non scale victories that keep us going!

I do the exact same thing. No matter how much I lose i can never attribute it to myself actually doing it. Its always just water weight or I make up some other excuse...

I get excited by what I consider a reasonable amount to lose in a day. Generally a pound or less. Mainly because I don't want to be totally crushed if it all comes storming back.

Two weeks ago I lost something like 2.4 lbs in a day, I was thrilled. Until the next day when I gained 2.4 lbs. :P Earlier this week I lost 3.6 lbs in a day - I was still happy, but i tried to muffle it some - so i wasn't nearly as disappointed when some (thankfully not all of it) came back.

Definitely get excited! I used to do this, too!! I think it took me a good 30 pounds before I realized I was actually losing weight. I'm serious. For the first 30 pounds I had really convinced myself it wasn't real; it was water weight, it would just suddenly stop. I think that I used to imagine weight loss as EXTREMELY difficult to the point where it was almost undoable lol. Once I got far enough away from my starting point, I saw that I really was (and am) doing it. I now get excited about ANY loss. It's my hard work, you bet I'm gonna be excited!

Definitely get excited. I weigh-in using the Wii board because it records everything for me and I'm a sucker for a graph. I get so stoked when I've lost any amount of weight and my orange little line travels down. Stay positive and be proud of yourself!

Get excited!! And be proud of yourself! ...I agree with the above post, even a little loss is still a loss. It's getting you .25lbs closer to your goal. As long as those numbers keep going down you have every right to do a little dance on your scale.

I do the SAME thing... even when my pants are falling off of me I tell myself they're just stretched out! I try to talk myself into really enjoying every accomplishment, even if its a tiny one. It's hard because I'm afraid I'll wake up the next day and that tiny accomplishment will be gone & I'll be back to how I was.. UGH! But yeahhh... I agree with the others.. we definitely need to get excited for ourselves!
