Half New York half Essex-ite :)

  • Hi I am new here. My name is Victoria. I just had my 49th birthday last week.
I am a native New Yorker but as I am in a long distance relationship, I spend a lot of time with him in lovely Essex England. I was there in 2009 from June to October and enjoyed every second of it.

I have just joined WW today and my diet is lower carb vegetarian, and have gone wheat free recently as it controls both my cravings and stomach bloat.

    Glad to be here !!!

  • Hey Victoria!!

Welcome to 3FC, congrats on joining WW, keep us updating on how it goes for you. I know that you will probably find the WW section of the forum really helpful so check it out if you havent already beat me to it!
I'm so jealous that you get the best of both worlds NY and England? wow I think I need to find me a long distance relationship or something, anything to get away from here every now and again lol!

Good luck with everything & feel free to ask any questions!!!

  • Hi SS !!

Thank you for the warm welcome, you are my very first welcome and the first person to write me since joining !

Yes, I do get the best of both world, cheap shopping, cheap transport, and endless variety of products to buy over here, but......
England ?? ah .......... lovely country walks with wildlife, charity shops, boot sales, friendly and helpful neighbors, dog lovers! I love England and hope to be there permanently in the future.

I do need to swing by the WW thread, as I want to be an active member here and have a few close contacts.

We are 5 hours behind you here, so I will wish you a good evening !

    Vickie
  • Yikes, I wouldn't choose England over NY! (No offence to anyone!) It's just the weather that's so miserable. Although I suppose it's not quite as bad as up here in Scotland...

Anyway, welcome You should come and join our monthly challenges where we set a goal that we'd like to get to. It's great for keeping yourself accountable - although I guess WW will do that too! All the best with your weight loss
  • Hi, Victoria! I'm from the US (via West Virginia), but have been living in England for over 5 years with my English hubby and our 2 daughters. Just acquired my Brit citizenship the year before last. I can attest that it is fantastic to have the best of both worlds, and to know that my daughters and I can move between both countries and Europe without any question. Hubby is the "odd one out"....so to speak (lol), as he is the only one not yet a dual citizen.

Anyway, good luck with WW, and welcome! xx

  • Hello everyone !

Thank you for the lovely warm welcome ! I am going to stop by the Feb challenge thread and sign myself up to whatever it is that is there that I think I can do !!!

I am glad to be here, amongst such friendly and welcoming gals !!!

  • Hi Vickie!

I joined WW yesterday as well. Hope you've had a good first day!
  • Hi !!

Actually I did ok, today is my 2nd day on the program, having joined yesterday near my home.

I am alloted 23 daily points, but with my huge walks, starting next week when I get the booklet, I will surely be making use of those exercise points !! lol.

When I was in Essex this past summer and early autumn I walked 5 hours a day, and I ranged from 15,000- 43,000 daily steps. I like that WW lets you have a bit more to eat when you exercise a lot. Keeps me motivated and I guess prevents you from going into starvation mode.

Let me know how you are getting on.

    V. xx
  • Welcome! I'm a Chicagean, living in North Wales (just south of Manchester).

I've been living here with my hubby for almost 4 years (july2010!) and I cannot wait to get out of here! no offense! lol

The only things I think I will miss about the UK would be cheese quavers and some of the views in the countryside :P

I wish you all the best with your relationship and your weightloss journey!
