Default hello fellow SBDers... i'm new here!! :)

hey, ladies (and gents?)...

my name is erin, i have been doing the SBD with my husband for 3 weeks now... tomorrow starts my 4th week!! so far, i have lost about 13 pounds, which i am ecstatic about... the past few days my weight has really been fluctuating, but i'm convinced i just need to put the scale away after my official monday morning weigh-ins so i don't get upset!

my husband is doing SBD with me, he has lost about the same amount as i have, it is great to have a partner in the house doing the same diet!! and i have 3 children, my two oldest (5 and 2) are also joining in with the healthy eating choices... they of course have additional food items in their "diets", more than mommy and daddy are allowed i pray this is a learning experience for them and they can make healthy food choices throughout their lives.

we also have a 4, almost 5 month old baby she is such a joy!! and-- she is the reason for starting my healthy lifestyle journey... i only gained about 40 pounds with her, but i started out at 230 when i got pregnant... i wanted to lose weight before i got pregnant, but that didn't happen... SO, my pregnancy was horrible, unhealthy, uncomfortable, painful...... so motivating to get healthy!! i also suffer from low back problems, joint problems, and this added weight/flabby muscles is not helping.

so far, i love SBD... my husband first came up with the idea, and i didn't think i could do it--- because i didn't think it was a plan that could teach me how to eat right for the rest of my life!! boy was i wrong!! i did weight watchers back in 2005 and lost a lot of weight, but i didn't really make healthy choices--- just ate little bits of things... anyway, this time around i really understand how certain foods make you feel, etc... and i love the way i feel! i don't crave certain things anymore (i have had 1 or 2 bad days)... and of course i love seeing the numbers going down on the scale and the pants starting to look a little baggy... i feel very motivated and i pray that my strength continues...

and i joined a gym... my goal is 4 days a week for 45 min...

i hope to make friends here on the forums, so i hope to get to know a lot of you!!

Hi Erin -

Yes, there are gents sort of here. My husband and I are doing SB. We are in Phase 1 right now - the end of week 2. We did SB a couple of years ago and each lost about 10 pounds, but it sort of slowly drifted back on. We each have lost about 8 pounds, which is good, and are going for 20 each.

Tonight, we splurged and went out for a movie and dinner. Instead of popcorn, Jim made Roasted Chick Peas for a snack. They weren't popcorn with butter, but they were pretty tasty to be sure. Then for dinner we had tomato soup and a blackend chicken breast sandwich with no bun. Pretty close to Phase 1 if you ask me.

Anyway, welcome to the group

Hi Erin and welcome to the forum! Congrats on your new baby! I have three kids, too. Mine are 8, 5, and 3. They also eat everything I cook but I don't use any artificial sweeteners.

Glad you've joined us!

to The Beach, Erin! I'm happy that you're joining us here and congratulations for doing so well on this plan! It's great that your DH is doing this with you, as you'll both be setting up a lifetime of good eating habits for your children.
Feel free to come on over and join us in the Daily thread, too, as we're all looking forward to getting to know you and sharing our weightloss journey together.

Hi Erin and

I'm glad you're joining in here. Your plan sounds like a recipe for success. I think it's wonderful that the entire family is flowing towards a healthier WOE. We have lots of beachers with kids who have the same philosophy.

I don't have kids, but my DH is a SBD person, too. For him it's not a diet since he doesn't need to lose weight, but he eats anything I make and I've noticed that he doesn't have the cravings for junk like he used to.

Best wishes!

Welcome Erin. You sound well on your way. Lucky you, for having your DH on plan too. My boys are older and picky eaters and I soooo wish I had fed them better and made them eat veggies, etc. when they were young. You are smart and lucky to be starting them on a lifetime of healthy eating

Hi Erin

Welcome to the board. I have two children also. My dd is one reason I really want to get our families eating under control. She is 11 and she eats just like I did at that age. I don't want her to be an overweight teen like i was. So I am working incorporating healthy eating into all of our lives.

Erin! I, too started SBD with my husband's suggestion and support, and am grateful to him every day for that! It helps so much to have a partner's support in this, and I think it's awesome that you're both setting such a great example for your little ones!

Glad to have you with us and look forward to getting to know you better!
