Default Joined months ago.. finally getting serious

Hi there!
~
ETA: I JOINED months ago.. but this is my first post.... I've not been even lurking.. I intended to start a diet way back when...
~

My partner and I stared the South Beach Diet on Monday.. we are finally getting serious.. we have sabotaged each other for the past two years.. you know.. the "I want chinese food" "Okay lets get it" kind of sabotage..
Sunday she went through the pantry and cleaned it out.. I was impressed.. because in the past we've just said "oh we'll want that later.. you know.. for a small treat"..

So anyway, My name is Jennifer and I'm a fat (but still hot) chick. My goal is to lose 45lbs.. In spite of training in karate 3 times a week (ok.. sometimes it's only 1) the fat is insisiting on hanging around... I'm the "fluffiest" green belt I know.

Last week I started easing myself into the South Beach thing... I started drinking more water, ate more veggies and got more sleep.... on Monday we officially started phase 1. So in 6 days (with only two being the "official days") I've lost 4 pounds.. evidently there is something to that sleep theory thing.. (and the fact that I'm sleeping and not snacking )

oh yah, and my karate classes are already going way better.. no more red tomato face! and quicker recovery.. considering how hard we went last night, I thought for sure I'd have bruises... and I have not a one. Go figure.

Hi Jennifer!
How great that you and your partner are doing this together, it makes it so much easier to be eating the same things (and keep each other accountable) - sounds like you're off to a great start with a good plan - the support you need is here - we'll all be here to cheer you on..

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired. Try the weight loss support forums, they're active and very helpful - also the Success stories are a definite must for motivation. And there's a great South Beach forum that will help you along as well.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here since last fall, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far.

So welcome - you've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

All the best - good luck with your goalsl,
Lee
