just a happy brag

  • I am the worst exerciser ever. Even tho I KNOW how important exercise is for health and wellbeing in general, and weight loss especially, I am a lazy slug....
But I have accepted the challenge, and have been exercising more regularly the last month, and the last week, I have been exercising daily. Not strenuous workouts, nothing stupendous, but 30 or more minutes everyday. Sometimes on a treadmill, sometimes outside.
    Just ordinary everyday regular activity.
Yes, I do feel better thanks.
Thanks to everyone here (and for the biggest loser) for motivation!
  • Good I bet you feel better already!
  • I love exercise AFTER I do it... but man its hard to get to it. I have been putting x's on days on my calendar that I do and that does motivate me to at least do something. I won't give myself an x unless it was 15 min of exercise.
  • I feel the same way. It's hard to get me to get up and GO to the gym, but I'm always glad I've done it.

The X on the calendar thing might be a good idea.
  • Hahaha I'm the worst with excuses when it comes to the gym.

It's always "I want to go but...." finally my room mates have been kicking me into shape saying "nobody WANTS to go to the gym so shutup and go!!!" but once i get there I realize it is really relaxing to be in my own little world. I'm kinda angry at myself for not going today!
  • It's been nonstop cloudy, gloomy, and rainy around here for weeks. No end in sight, at least through the current 10-day forecast. Just more of the same.

If I wait for good weather before I go to the gym, it ain't gonna be anytime soon. So even though I hate this weather and it's depressing the **** out of me, I gotta get out and go.
  • Good for you! That's great! It's nice to feel better, isn't it?
  • awesome! you rock!
  • glad to know there are lots of reluctant exercisers out there. I even managed a treadmill session yesterday after a half night of work. My irregular hours have been a big excuse.
ANother excuse is that I don't get a "good" workout. Well, good or not, 30 minutes on the treadmill is better than nothing, which is what I was doing.
I don't use the treadmill if I have done other stuff, like cross-country skiing.
Hope there is more snow soon so I can get back to skiing.
  • 30 min on the treadmill consistently is very good! congrats!
  • Congrats on the dedication! Keep going and working out will just become second nature.

I find its so much easier to get myself to the gym if I have a friend with me, esp. when I met them at the gym. It feels more like an appointment that I can't miss. Plus, once I'm there, its easy to convince myself to stay.
  • That's great congrats!! It wasn't easy for me to get started but now I can totally tell a difference in my mood and energy on my exercise days off.

The hardest part is getting started, once you're done you're always super happy you did it. I hang on to that on days I just don't feel like doing it.
  • Good for you!!

Exercise, for me, feels great as I'm doing it. After, I'm frequently tired and or sore, and before, I'm soooooooooooooooooo unmotivated, but during - it's GREAT!!

Something about sweat just pouring off you that is liberating and a happy thing.
