I'm not afraid of the gym, per say, I'm just horrendously cheap and I don't trust myself to keep up with all this.

So I work at home. I use My Fitness Coach for the Wii, and I just ordered EA Active Sports (another Wii game)--a lot of people here were recommending it. Also, I plan on getting some DDR games, both for the cardio work out, and just to have a little fun to mix things up.

Once the college opens up, I might start using the gym there. But it's sooo small and the hours for it are so short, and there's always someone there to keep an eye out for theft and emergencies, and that intimidates me.

As for My Fitness Coach, I love it. It's only $20--so about the price of any other work out DVD--but it unlike a DVD, it switches things up for you so that you're not doing the same routine every day. It'll also increase or decrease the difficulty pending on how well you're doing. I find it worth it, as it's only $20.

I use to workout at home. I did various weightlifting with free weights. Sparkpeople shows different exercises you can do at home. And for cardio, I would either go for a run for 20 minutes (when I first started) or I would do a dance dvd like Ministry of Sound... which is corny but lots of fun. I have the wii fit, but now I just use to for play time.

The wii workout dvds are actually a lot better than normal excersise dvds....as it's been said.

A good idea would always be (if you have the funds/room/etc) to buy an excersise machine for your home. Although this isn't always possible (I only know a couple of people who actually do this, but I'm jealous of them for it)

An additional suggestion - although not marketed as a workout video on the Wii, Just Dance is a good cardio workout if you don't take too much downtime in between songs. It's also a really good laugh. It would do double duty as a good party game or something to do with the kids (if you have them) as well. The main disadvantage is that there are only 30 songs but I can see it beingfun with it for a while and then move on to something else again, cycling through a few different games.

I hate the gym...I have lost 20 lbs working out at home.
I do bodyweight exercises and walk outside or on a treadmill. I know i am getting a good workout cuz I can see results and am getting stronger.

I have to agree I use my Fitness Coach on the Wii and it's a proper workout like I used to pay to go to! It's only £9.99 on Amazon and if you read the reviews I'm sure you'll be interested. You can make your workout only 15 minutes if that's all the time you have, or longer if you can. I then follow that up with a few songs on Just Dance - mainly the high effort ones. It's fun but you really work up a sweat!

Also on Amazon Wii Fit Plus (which at least is helpful in telling you how many calories you've burned) is £14.73, and Just Dance is £17.73. I love Amazon!

I'd love to get a wii but I'm too broke!! I've lost over 40lbs without going to the gym... I just started walking alot more and recently invested in the biggest loser dvd which I really enjoyed. BUT in saying that I joined my local gym the other day, and at £16.50 a month I can;t really go wrong. I genuinely feel that I need the varied equipment and the motivation that I get when I'm in the gym. Lucky for me all of my friends have now joined. To be honest, I enjoy going alone but it's nice to know that we are all trying to sort ourselves out for summer whether they're a size 8 or a size 18

I'm sure everyone above can give you wicked advice on wii fitness programmes because I've already heard so much about how great they are! Good luck with everything

I actually used to be afraid of going to the gym. I am going to my first gym session today and on Tuesday I went to my very first pool workout. I was so empowered on Tuesday. The class only had 2 people in it and an entire gym full of onlookers and I didn't notice a thing!

I have DDR and I have WiiFit and the other various wii games. I love the motivation of going out to the gym and getting lost in the movement of it all!

Yes, that's where I got it from, although I also tend to shop around a couple of other sites like Play and Gameplay first to check prices. Even though I like it, I definitely don't think it would be worth the full price as I can't see it having enough variety longterm.
