Default Introducing... KatehSparrow!

Hello All!

My name is Katie (or Kateh, whichever you prefer). I'm currently a freshman in college distraught by the fact that she gained back the 15 lbs. she lost last year using Weight Watchers. When I came home and stepped on the scale for the first time in months (I don't have a scale at school-- mistake?), I was almost shocked to tears. I remember the struggle to lose that weight and I just couldn't handle the disappointment in myself. I figured being home would help me lose some of the weight I had gained... but not really.

I'm floating in the 190s right now and it's just... it's getting me down. All my clothes that I bought for school after I lost ~18 lbs. are starting to get tight now.

I'm here looking to make a few friends and get some support as I attempt to diet while in college. It was easier when my entire family was on Weight Watchers and my meals were controlled... but now, not so much. The ability to exercise has increased (my dorm is right across from the gym, and I've actually motivated myself to go!) but now its my portion control thats suffering.

Looking forward to get to know you all!

Hi Kateh!
Hey, it happens, we lose and then gain it back - and it is a struggle but you've successfully met the challenge before so you know you can do it - just take it a step at a time, small changes can lead to big results - the support you need is here - we'll all be here to cheer you on.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired - you'll be a wonderful addition to any of them. Try the 20 somethings, the Weight Watchers and the weight loss support forums, they're active and very helpful - also the Success stories are a definite must for motivation.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here since last fall, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far.

So welcome - you've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

All the best - good luck with your goals,
Lee

Welcome, KatehSparrow! I'm a newbie too. Don't worry, we will both reach our goals, I'm certain of it! I'm working on portion control too. I keep telling myself, "hunger is just a feeling, if I ignore it long enough it will go away..."

Welcome Katie I'm a newbie too, just jump on in and start chatting with others and you'll find some fantastic motivation to keep going. Portion control has been a problem for me as well, so when I eat out, I only eat half of the meal, then I get left overs for lunch or dinner. I too am in college, but am living at home, so I usually prepare a separate meal from my family's because they aren't interested in healthy eating.

Hey! It's nice to meet you both!
Lori- I know what you mean, though most of the time I eat out of boredom or habit (sitting by the tv eating snacks) so I need to learn to eat only when I'm hungry.

Jamie- Sounds like you have a good plan set for yourself! Its good that you are taking the initiative and making a separate meal for yourself-- that would be hard for me to do.
