Default Getting Healthy to Get Pregnant 2010

I saw the 2009 thread, but haven't seen one for 2010, so thought I'd get one started.

One of my main reasons for starting this weight loss journey was so that I would be at a healthy weight when DH and I started TTC. We hope to start trying in early fall, so I still have several months to get down to a healthy weight.

Me too! I have about 50 more before we start trying. I really, really want to be pregnant by the 2011.

Thanks so much for starting this! My one goal in life is to lose weight so I can have a healthy pregnancy. I have A LOT of weight to loose, but I'm hoping to really work hard so I can get pregnant by the end of the year.

Good luck Heather and encelia!! I have actually been able to stick to a weight loss plan this time and I feel like babies are one of my major motivators. Everyone I know is either pregnant or just had a baby so it's hard to not just throw it out the window and start trying already. But I know being at a healthy weight will benefit both me and my future children. We just have to keep it up!

I just had a baby but I'm already thinking about number 3 I want to get to a healthy weight first this time. DS1 was conceived when I was much lighter but still too heavy (around 160lbs) DS2 when I was around 225lbs and had just started dieting.

I'm not sure yet if DH is going to be on board for a 3rd baby though...he usually gives me what I want though

Isn't this how it usually works out? Good luck on your weight loss!

Same here. I gained weight after baby 1 and still haven't lost all the weight from number 2. After pregnancy induced hypertension got me induced, I figure being a healthy weight might help my pregnancy with number 3. I have a year and a half to get to goal, that's when we are planning our next little one.

Everyone around me is trying to get pregnant right now and it's tough to always feel like to odd one out. But I had such a horrible time with my last pregnancy that this time I really want to start out on the right foot.

Going to run again tomorrow!

Good luck everyone! This was my number one goal for losing weight...then DH decided "maybe no kids" so I'm maintaining while we decide what to do...

I am so glad this thread was started. My husband and I have been putting off trying for the last few years. (you know there is always a reason to wait!) This year seems to be the perfect year! We will start trying sometime in March as I live in Texas and REALLY don't want to be 8 months pregnant in 100 degree temps. I only have 13lbs before I am goal! I hope I can do it!!!

I know what you mean. I'm going to be 9 months pregnant in August in NM, 100+ degrees daily. I figure I'll just hole up in my house with my refrigerated air and be cozy. It'll be like Father of the Bride Part II, DH will have to wear a jacket and ear muffs and I'll be drinking iced tea in my tank tops.

Mindi - I hope you and your DH can come to a compromise that will make you both happy. I know it was probably a shock to hear that, if he had never said that before.

slai - Good luck with those last 13 lbs! I know you can lose those by March. You're so close!

Gale - 9 months pregnant in that heat?! I couldn't imagine! I might have to try to avoid that. That whole Father of the Bride scene sounds like a plan!

I think we will start trying this fall, whether I have reached my goal or not. I figure I will probably be close enough. But who knows...it could come off quicker than I think!

I can not believe I'm going to type this but hubs and I are trying.

We have no kids other than dogs and have no idea how we'll do it but we know we can. We've each had a parent pass away unexpectedly, 2 years in a row, and we keep waiting for "the right time". We finally figured out if we keep waiting for that, we'll never have kids. So I took out the nuvaring on Jan 3rd and we decided not to put a new one in. My main goal right now is just to be as healthy as possible so if we do get pregnant I can easily maintain the healthy habits I've already established. Best of luck to the other moms and soon-to-be moms out there.

Good luck and baby dust Abby! That's so exciting! We kept talking about waiting for that "right time" too, but there's always going to be a reason to not start trying. The only thing I want to wait on is me to get to a healthy weight, then we're gonna go for it!

Gale- I will cross my fingers that it is a 'cool' summer in NM. (and not humid!)

Abby- Good luck!! That is reallly exciting!! Keep us posted!

Cabinwife- You can get close to goal by the fall. There is plenty of time, and now you have even more motivation!

Just an update, I have lost a litte over 1 lb since I last posted here. Baby steps, but steps!!
