Ok so I wanted to try out some weight loss pills or drinks or something, I don't know really. What do you guys recommend to help me lose this weight? I'm eating well, and exercising.. I just wanna have something else to help me lose that weight a little faster. Any suggestions would be great! Also, if you've tried that certain product you recommend, have you gotten positive results? Thank you!
If you're eating right and exercising, there really isn't any "magic" product that's going to make it go faster. If there was, the creator would be a millionaire, and obesity rates in America wouldn't be as high!
I agree with mandalinn. Unfortunately the real secret is "patience" and there's still no pill for that. I can suggest buying a food scale & calorie counting. Find out how many calories you should eat per day & cut that by 500-1000 to put you in the range of a 1-2 lb loss per week. Best of luck in whatever you decide.
yeah there really isn't anything that can help you lose the weight other than hard work.
now the only FDA approved weight loss pill is Alli, and it does work, but beware of the side effects if you happen to go over in the fat you eat. i mean it wont be pretty..
I came "this close" to asking my doctor for phen-fen many years ago. Whew!!Since then I have been very leery of anything that promises weight loss other than the basics of good nutrition and exercise.
Has anyone tried alli? I wanna add that onto my diet/excercise regime but I worked at Rite Aid for a few years and the pharmacists there spread some terrifying stories about Alli haha
That magic stuff that makes all the weight come off faster is exercise. Get your body moving and see if you can start by walking more. I highly recommend using a pedometer and try to aim for 10,000 steps a day. Once that is easy, you can then add more intense cardio. I also recommend doing weights.
I do exercise.. everyday. Plus I have a job where I'm always walking and lifting heavy things 8hrs+ a day. I heard Alli works, is that true? Maybe something to curb my appetite? Is there something good for that?
Sometimes at the end of the work day, I take a Glucomannan pill to help take the edge off my appetite for the evening. But it is my NO MEANS a magic pill. It is just a fiber supplement (so I haven't experienced any side effects other than being very regular! ) and it supposedly expands in your stomach a little. But like PP have said, there isn't any magic pill out there or everyone would be taking it!
For exercise: I have read/been told that intervals are key in weight loss.

I was a pharmacy tech and the stories are true. It kind of works by making a person averse to high fat foods due to the really nasty side effects- loose, watery and oily stools, flatulence and the overwhelming urge to find a bathroom very very quickly (Alli/Xenical prevents some fat absorption (depending on the stats you read, 30-40%)).
It's by no means a magic pill at all. We recommended it along with diet and exercise. Truthfully, you don't lose all that much more since you're just pooping fat. You're not burning any calories unless you're clenching your buttcheeks together and running for the toilet.
You may want to try eating smaller meals, but more often. Combined with exercise, it may help to speed up your metabolism. Also, since you're eating every 2-3 hours, you're never really hungry.
For example, my day today looks like this:
B'fast (7:30)
Oatmeal (prepared with 1/2 c. oats mixed with 3/4 c. water and 1/4 c. milk), 2 tsp. brown sugar, 1/2 banana, and 1/8 tsp. cinnamon, 1 kiwi
AM snack (10)
1/2 c. cottage cheese
Lunch (12:30)
Salad with grilled chicken
1 wasa cracker
PM snack (3pm)
1 ff plain yogurt
1/2 c. strawberries (don't usually eat fruit this late, but...)
Dinner (planned for 6:30pm)
Pumpkin Turkey Chili (ground turkey, red pinto beans, corn, peppers, tomatoes, pumpkin, spices)
Evening snack (8:30-ish)
Veggie sticks (maybe red bell pepper or something)
I eat ALL DAY LONG. I'm a little hungry now, so I may eat my dinner at work at 5:30 instead of waiting until I'm home. I have some of the turkey chili here at work.
Also, you have to think about the rest of your life. Alli, or some gimmick, might work right now, but do you really want to do that for the rest of your life? Keep up with your changes and you will see results!
I would think also that if you lose weight too fast, your body will want to put it all back on by whatever methods it can. If you lose it at the recommended 1-2 lbs/week, it is supposed to be easier to maintain once you reach your goal. Unfortunately, slow and steady is best. Since I have just started my weightloss efforts, I too am impatient and eager to see some signs of improvement. It's hard to do it slowly.
