Hi! A foodie question I can answer!
First cut your melon pole to pole.
Cut it into thinnish slices, then have a good look at it.
The pips are in a band about 2/3 the way down, in a ripe watermelon. This gives you 2 options:
Chew and SPIT!!! or,
Using a small knife or a spoon, carve off the flesh above the pip layer. Carve the pip layer into the bin. Then carve off the layer next to the skin. Chop and eat alone or in a fruit salad!
I hope this all makes sense! It is as taught me by the first Mexican lady I ever met, when I was 7 years old. I believe she taught my parents how to add tequila to a melon at the same time!!!!!
