Red face Not lost any weight after first day.

Is it normal to not lose any weight after the first day? I stayed within my 1200 calorie limit yesterday and when i went to weigh myself this morning i was still the same weight. I wasn't expecting anything miraculous like 2 or 3 or 4lbs, but i thought i'd at least go down half a pound or something. Just curious. Thanks!!

I wouldn't weigh in daily just now- give it a whole week before you weigh in. If at the end of the week you lose nothing them maybe you are doing something wrong.

A half pound loss would mean that you had eaten almost 1800 calories less yesterday than you normally do. That seems unlikely.

So i should just weigh in once a week then? Because i will lose weight but not as fast as i think? Hopefully at least 1-2 lbs a week. Is it realistic for me to think i can lose 50 to 60lbs by the end of June? I feel so lost.

I lost 1 lb every first 3 days I started calorie counting (I was 140 lb 5”4 with 1,100 cal/day), it is most likely water weight, but still makes me feel good. Did you exercise? Watch out for salty food as well, so you will not retain any water.

Good luck and I know how you feel, I am one of those who weight myself 2 times a day and expecting to get slimmer with every breath I take

It is very normal for weight to fluctuate. If you only weigh once a week you will not see those fluctuations. You will see the total loss for the week. It is not unrealistic to expect to lose 2 pounds a week. I believe it is possible that you could lose 50 pounds in the next 6 months.,,,,but don't be upset if you only lose 45!!!!

You really cant expect to see much if any weight loss for at least 3-5 days. Which is why most people weigh (or at least only count) weekly weigh in's. If you must weigh daily just choose a day to "count" and let the rest of them be your guide.

Here is a great site for calorie amounts.
http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm

May I ask why you choose 1200 calories as your amount? At your starting weight you can probably eat minimum 1500-1600 calories and still lose weight.

Its only been 1 day so not seeing a change is not at all suprising, just stick with it and you will start to lose weight. I never lost weight quick at that calorie range so I eat way over that amount and lose at the same pace. I think my body just needs more calories in order to let me lose weight

I didn't lose anything the first day, but at the end of the week I noticed I went down a good 5 lbs. Now its the end of week 2 and my weight is just about the same, fluctuating about a pound up or down. What I am trying to get at is that each day your weight can fluctuate by a lot. Weighing yourself too often might bring your spirits down. As others have said a weekly weigh in is the best way to get a good idea about your results.

I agree. I had a habit of getting on the scale 5 or 6 times a day. It was really bad. And then i would get mad when i didn't lose anything. I'm not so bad now but i think i will stick to the once a week deal.
