Smile Just another New Years Resolution

Hi. My name is Ashley. I'm 24 years old and gave birth to my 1st son 2 months ago. I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight but that's still not much to be proud of. 260 lbs was what I weighed last week at my check up. I had gotten down to 250 while I was breastfeeding but after going back to work I gave up on pumping. And of course the holidays had a helping hand in gaining those 10 lbs back. I have always made a New Years resolution to lose weight and have never been very successful. This year I have a whole new motivation... my son. He's 2 months old now and is pretty easy to keep up with, but what am I going to do once he is ready to run around, play tag, and just run from mommy at all the wrong times. I want to be able to keep up with him and in the shape I'm in right now, I can't. I also want to be healthy and live as long as possible to watch him grow and my grandchildren grow. So, here is my desperate cry for help, support, and encouragement. My husband will be starting a new career in truck driving and I'll be home alone a lot with my son. I'm not sure how I'm going to keep myself in check while doing this on my own, but I know it's possible.

Walk, walk, walk. Buy a nice stroller. Go to an indoor mall if the weather is bad. Check out what your community has to offer. We can sign up to walk indoors at our local middle school in the evening. Good luck!

Thanks. I plan on walking but the weather is usually wet and cold here in GA. I haven't thought much about the Mall though... will do!

Hi Ashley!
Congrats on the precious little one - what a great goal to get healthier for you and your family - the support you need is here - we'll all be here to cheer you on.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different eating plans and exercise to help choose the right ones for you and get through the ups and downs.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

All the best - good luck with your goals,
Lee

Happy Holidays!

Congrats on the little baby.

Try getting some fat burning home workout equipment.

I've tried walking. It just made me tired, but didn't help to lose much weight.
