The liver is a very complex organ. Alcohol, drugs, all sorts of substances get passed through the liver for detoxification. Tylenol has a bad impact on the liver, as do many other drugs. The liver is also responsible for breakdown of fats (by producing bile) and production of cholesterol, a normal function. The statin drugs in particular really stomp on the liver.
Obesity has been regarded as the third most freqent cause of liver disease, after alcohol abuse and viral hepatitis. However, obesity has overtaken alcohol according to a BBC article.
Yet another reason to get weight down and keep it off!
