Hello all my 20-something's! I haven't posted on here for quite some time now, I don't know if anyone even remembers me! I haven't fallen off the wagon completely, I just got pregnant. Unfortunately I did not know how many calories I should be getting until recently at a new dr's office. Everyone else has always told me not to diet during this time. So I forgot about WW and counting calories and just ate whatever. It was nice to not have to track down every single bite, but it is not nice to get up to 190 after working hard all year (getting down to 171.6!) I am only about 19 weeks and have already gained what my new dr has recommended me to for the whole pregnancy. I am beyond discouraged about that.
At my dr appt on Tuesday, I weighed 190 (with clothes, no shoes). That morning I weighed 189.8 (just the bare essentials). Yesterday, I ate 29 pts and today weighed in 187 (again just bare essentials). I also tracked on thedailyplate.com and came up with only 1,540 calories. My target (per dr) is 2000-2200. So I figured 29-31 pts is okay. According to a lot of resources, one pt= 70 calories (approx.) Sooo...I was quite under my calorie target which explains the 3 lb loss overnight.
Now today, I decided to check out both again. I made an awful mistake and ate breakfast at BK. OMG, 28 of my pts were gone. Should've brought my book along! So I cross-checked it with TDP and it was 1,200 calories. According to WW, I should not eat anymore. According to TDP, I should eat 800-1000 more calories!! WW in the end is easier to track for me than CC, but now I'm not so sure. What do I do? I know I need the calories for the baby, but I didn't realize what a difference it made! (No wonder, I lost so much with WW!) *Also, I rarely eat fast food. This was once in a blue moon, so I do realize that made a huge difference since the fat is through the roof, making pts higher, but yesterday was healthy eating and still 500 calories off.*
Thanks!
I think you should probably just eat to maintain.... which sounds like it'd probably be in that 1800 to 2000 calories a day weight range your doc gave you.
I'd say stick with the calories, just for the time being. After you have the baby, then you can go back to WW, but you want to be extra careful for the baby.
thats one reason why I stopped doing WW was because i was always starving. They say that you can eat whatever you want and still lose weight but if you eat something high in fat you use a lot of your points. I count calories now and I dont feel as hungry since I can eat more calories and still lose.
I would say take your docs advice and count calories especially since you ate 28 points worth of food and still came up way short on the calories that your body needs. you can still make healthy food choices but just count the calories, plus WW isn't supposed to be used if your pregnant. Good Luck with whatever you choose
I think you should stay within calorie limit but add walking into your routine. There are many women whom workout throughout their pregnacies to maintain weight gain. Good luck
The 2,000-2,200 recommended by my dr is to maintain my weight. Since I am overweight it is safe to do. I've been trying to do elliptical training at least 3x a week (also okay'd by dr) since it is freakin freezing here in PA. I would love to get out and walk but I can't do that with 2 little ones. It is just too cold and windy lately.
I think I am going to stay away from WW for now. I never realized how different calorie intake was depending on fat and fiber. I just knew that it helped me lose 30+ lbs.
