As some of you may know.. I am still dealing with the INS.
This was all supposed to be wrapped up.
Today in the mail I get a letter asking me to get my fingerprints done for the FBI. I have done that twice!!! Once here in Green Bay... they wanted a digital version.. so I had to go to Milwaukee and wait in line. That was in March of 2001. Now they want me to go to Minneapolis to have them done again because the ones I had done in 2001 have expired. Well if they weren't screwing around with my file for the past almost 4 years the finger prints I've had done before would have been fine!!!
dh is going to have to take a day off work .. IT IS A MIN OF A 4 HOUR DRIVE TO MINNEAPOLIS. They want me there within the next 6 days.
Are they.. bleamping &%! CRAZY?
I'm sorry.. but I have just about had enough of this country. I want to go HOME!
I have not been home in 4 years. I am a Canadian born educated woman. If the INS can let building crashing wackos here why can't they let me?????
thanks Kayla.. this has honestly been the most frustrating thing in my whole life. I would not wish this on my worst enemy. We leave for Minneapolis tomororrow.

but what really ticks me off is that nafta was supposed to make life easier for all of us in north america, and it's only helped the corporations. we still have to go through customs and look at how you're being treated!!!!! a sad sad commentary.
Dana - Maybe your hubby should write to his congressman detailing the problems you've been having. I had to do that when the Navy Reserve refused to pay me for NINE MONTHS, and it worked wonders. My congressman's office got my money for me in a week.
We did that 3 weeks ago - they got the ball rolling - they atleast found my file. - I should atleast be happy with that.
I don't understand why fingerprints expire? Don't they watch CSI? I'm sure that if I commited a crime there would be no problem convicting me on my old fingerprints. Duh???
I just look forward to the day when this is all in the past.
You're forgetting that the INS is a GOVERNMENT department. They have highly qualified people working there that are trained specifically to screw up. (It's called Job Security.) You should know that when they have millions of dollars to spend that they won't spend only thousands. Why on earth would they want to work efficiently, be competant, save money, then refund it?
I love America. There is NO WHERE I'd rather be, but I don't like the way my money is spent.
You know, these sorts of things only happen to people who are willing to follow the rules and try to go with the flow of this system. Think of things like getting your license plates, getting a mortgage, getting the cable turned on in a new house....the list goes on. If the INS system and systems like it were easier to comply with, more people would, and fewer nutjobs would fall through the cracks.

Oh yuck. I hope all goes well with you tomorrow and I'm sorry you're having to endure this. Since your DH is going to have to take off tomorrow anyway, why not treat yourself. I don't know if you have a fasion bug up there or not but down here they're having a huge sale. I got 5 shirts and a pair of capris for around $40 (about $7 an item.) Treat yourself and hubby tomorrow and hopefully this will be the last time for you to have to leave you fingerprints.
