Default TOM Energy

Anyone else feel like extremely lazy when it is TOM.
This month has been awful, I have been cramping and even my back hurts, I want to get up and excerise but I just feel like sleeping and doing nothing. I hate that. What do you guys do when you don't feel energized enough to get moving?

I go slow and drink lots of hot tea.

I also stretch a lot during TOM.

I go easy on exercise but I make sure to walk minimum 30 min.

Also, I avoid looking at the scale that week because most likely its inaccurate and will only piss me off

The thing that we don't realize (or don't want to accept) is that our bodies are under a huge amount of stress when we have TOM. Exercise is good and will help you get the blood flowing, but its not too terrible of an idea to cut back on things when you have TOM. Usually when I get it, I'm in bed by 8pm my body is so exhausted.

I'm not saying use it as an excuse to have a binge/couch fest, just recognize that if your body is tired its telling you HEY I'M UNDER STRESS TAKE IT EASY. I like to do lighter exercise during, like walking. It gets the blood flowing, but I'm not killing myself.

I totally agree about looking at the scale. I am so addicted to looking at it every morning though. My fiance is always yelling at me, he is like your body fluctautes each day it's no accurate to weigh yourself daily, you can't expect to see a change every 24 hrs. I know this but it's an obsession of mine lol.

I told myself when I started this month, during TOM I wasn't going to look at the scale, but I have. I need to STOP! lol.

I definitely don't want to binge, I hate feeling lazy, the past week I have been really good about walking and doing my Yoga DVD which I love.

I did go over my sister in laws Sat and we ordered Pizza. I ate 1 piece, and it gave me heart burn and I felt like crap about eating it. So I stuck to the 1 piece. I have been really good about not binging or if I want something not depriving myself, but watching my portions. Like a week ago I really wanted Chinese. So my Fiance and me split a lunch portion so I only had half.

I'd say I feel a bit more tired than usual during TOM, but the bigger problem is the pain and how things that wouldn't normally bother me get me very angry

This is EXACTLY like myself and my husband!!! I weighed in at 208.8 on saturday and sunday (the day before TOM) I weighed in at like 210.5... I started crying (because of disappointment and TOM hahah) because even though I KNEW that TOM was starting and that I would gain weight I just felt discouraged... I went to bed last night complaining to my husband and he gave me the same lecture "You weight flucatues daily because of your body.. you should only be weighing yourself once a week" blah blah blah hahaha Well I just ignored him and got up this morning to weigh myself like normal and the scale was GONE!!!! He took it and hid it or took it to work with him or something!! lol So I guess I will get the scale back when TOM is over hahaha So you aren't the only one in this situation!

LOL ladies.. it seems we all bother our significant others with our weight issues.

My bf was starting to get reALLY annoyed with me because of my emotional rollercoaster that followed every weigh-in~ sometimes I would weigh myself SEVERAL times a day...I've learned to control my emotions better and learned to vent through forums/blogs so I don't get on my bf's nerves lol

He wants me to just weigh myself once a week but it's really hard for me because I want to know what works and what doesn't... also the more I weigh myself the less emotional I become with slight fluctuations because I know they are just tiny differences that will smooth itself out.

TOM for me is next week so... slightly nervous about that .. we will see

I am always exhausted around my TOM. Taking some midol really helps me though. Takes the pain away and gives you a little energy boost.

Speaking of the scale...last week I weighed myself about 3 times. Today is when I recorded my weight. I'm 5 lbs from my start day last week, but I'm up a pound from the middle of the week. So, I'm just using the number I was from today and going on. I know I can't count on daily weigh-ins...so, I think I'm only going to count the ones on Monday. Even though, i may still weigh myself in the middle of the week just to see what it is. Haha! My hubby, on the other hand, weighs himself all the time...he's def. more obsessed about it than I am.

Belly dancing! You know, it's the greatest discovery I've ever had I think. It's a low intensity exercise that can be sustained, and while it doesn't have the greatest calorie "burn" as a true cardio would, it it good for a body, and helps out with the muscle soreness. Plus it's just fun and stress relieving, and the movements are made with a real woman's body in mind.

Take a class, get a DVD. It's wonderful.

Honestly, if I don't have the energy, I cut myself a break and let myself rest on the first day or two of my period. Stay within your calories/points, but listen to your body if it's feeling weak!

I'd suggest something less intense, like walking or yoga.

I'm an odd duck in this category!

When it's TOM (besides the first day because I suffer MAJOR cramps), I have all the energy in the world. Every other day of the year I'm exhausted but during my period I'm usually exercising twice as much and cleaning all the little spots I usually miss. I wish I had that energy every day.

Seems like we are all mostly on the same page when it comes to weigh in's. Britni-that is to funny that your husband hid your scale. I am always telling my fiance he should hide it from me, actually once he did and I begged him to tell me where it was. Man I got problems lol. It's funny though.

I want to get up and do yoga or something but I feel so tired this TOM. I am recording my weight every wed. Including inches as well. Hopefully I see some more movement. I hate not seeing movement it gets me really discouraged.

Right before my TOM I will get super energized! Then during I will fall flat and want to spend a lot of time curled up with a hot pad.

Everlasting,
Any recs for a good bellydancing DVD? I'm dying to start (my icon is of a bellydancing picture that I love)! I tried one by Dolphina and hated it, though! I thought the instruction was really lackluster and it didn't help me all that much.

You're not the odd duck!! This is actually the 1st TOM since I've been on my weight-loss journey (I'm very irregular...tom only comes a couple times a year for me). This morning I woke up at 6:30am and my dog and I went for a walk/run....which neeeever happens! Usually I can't get myself out of bed until I HAVE to. Maybe this morning was a fluke though...we'll see what happens tomorrow!

I agree with Stella in the fact that you cant torture yourself because your body is already stressed enough. I also like to just walk and do a light exercise video but nothing too strenuous. Im SOOO jealous of you woman that get that extra burst of energy on your TOM
