I count calories, but I'm not obsessed. However, I have been falling a little bit and need to get back on. Right now it's pre TOM, so I'm attributing most of it to that, but also to the fact that when I work late and have class, my husband makes dinner. Although he tries to make low calorie things, sometimes he doesn't add in all of the ingredients, so I know that I'm totally over. But, I'm still working out, walking about 3 miles + a day, so I'm not completely worried. We'll see how this turns out after all of my TOM symptoms go away (bloating and such). I'm just worried.
See how your weigh in goes AFTER the TOM symptoms have passed, but it is possible that relatively small "extras" can make a big difference in your results. For me, and this is just me, it's the small amounts of falling off that result in small to no results at the scale. I mean, walking and exercise are great and do up your calorie burn...but walking 3 miles at 3mph will probably burn a bit over 300 calories a day. Personally, I can eat that in "extras" way too easily.
Can you ask your husband to write down ingredients added for you? Or leave yourself a bit more room on days when he is cooking?
Again, wait and see - it may be that what you're doing is just perfect for your body. But if not, you may have to reign in the extras a bit to get consistent results.
Thanks! I think that you're right. I'll see what happens after my TOM, but I think I may have to tweak my calorie intake, too. Or boost my exercise. But, I also feel that I'm doing what I can right now exercise-wise, so I don't get burnt out or hurt myself. May have to tweak my food, though.
I also want to say that for *me*, it is very important that I count every single calorie I take in, not guess or estimate or hope I am close..but to log in to sparkpeople and add everything..every bite, every lick, every taste, every drink that I have taken in...every one of them.
