Hello all My name is Lisa. I have decided to get myself some support. I have never been this heavy in my life I used to be a 122 pound soccer player/ dancer now I am just big and stressed out. I know that I am capeable of losing the weight I am just overwhelmed by how much I need to drop. My BFF's wedding (on the beach) is coming in June and I dont want to feel like the beached whale. Everyone is super thin in the wedding party (except me). I dont want to be as small as I was I just would like to be comfortable with myself again and be able to dance without getting all out of breath. I have severe asthma and it make exercise very uncomfortable and sometimes scary. I hope that I will my motivation soon and I am excited to meet new people.

Lisa, do you think your asthma might improve with some weight loss? I have a mild asthma and more serious COPD, so I know that vigorous exercise can be out of the question. That leaves us with just moderate exercise and serious dieting as techniques.

For me, 54 pounds would have been too many and next June too remote in time to get me really going. I had to take it a few pounds and a few days at a time. What always worked for me was daily weigh-ins on a very accurate scales. That gave me immediate small successes, which added up over the course of months.

That wouldn't be right for everyone, so I won't presume to recommend it.

Default Hello Lisa.

Hello Lisa, I don't have asthma, but I know what you mean about feeling uncomfortable at a wedding surrounded by thinner people. I recently purchased a book to get me motivated, which led to this website and all of the success stories on here. I'm totally pumped up with motivation. I just started today. By June we could be 58 pounds lighter if we lost 2 pounds per week!! 30 pounds lighter if we only lost 1 pound per week. We just need to try to change some habits and keep ourselves positive. I know we can do it.

Good luck!

Tammy

Hi Lisa!
I can certainly relate to your insecurity about the wedding - so many of us have been (or are) where you are now and felt as you do.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different plans to help you choose the right one for you and get you through the ups and downs.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a short time myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

Hey Lisa!

Hang in there. You've got loads of time until the summer (just don't procrastinate!). I just thought, there are so many people on this site who are also planning to slim down for the summer. Some of them have tried unsuccessfully in the past, but that's not stopping them from trying again!! We'll do it.

And what Tammy said is really amazing: (Thanks Tammy!)

Thank you all for the welcome and words of encouragement! I am really excited. I started weight watchers on Monday the 16th. For the first time in I dont know how long I feel really optimistic I cant wait to weigh in. Oh and I am a bit happier now then when I started it turns out the scale I was using was 10 pounds off (heavier) So that was a relief!
