Today, I went to the jewelers to finish paying off my new engagement ring. My fiance and I have been together for nine years and we actually decided to get married years ago (we're waiting until I finish school). At the time, we were VERY poor and my fiance bought me a pretty silver ring with a lapis lazuli in it. We planned on getting a diamond when we could afford one. I had never worn rings and I lost it.
Then he purchased a second ring for me and I almost never wore it because I was afraid of losing it. He asked me to please wear the ring and I started wearing it. And, you guessed it, I lost it.
By this point we were doing much better financially and he told me that if I could regularly wear and keep track of a plain band for one year, that he would get me a diamond, but, let's face it, I had an awful track record.
After I had worn my band for six months, I found a gorgeous art deco style diamond ring that I loved in a local jewelry store. He put it on layaway so that I could have it when the year was up. The ring was way too small, but the jeweler said that he would size it for free when we paid it off. Today, I went to make the last payment and to have the ring sized. I didn't have to have this done because IT FITS NOW!
This may sound really silly, but I am so excited. Somehow this meant more to me than getting into smaller pants did.

The jeweler even told me that I could use my free resize later if I needed to get it sized down.
