Ok so I don't know what they are called lol but I've seen them at walmart and have heard of those spanx...i always swore I'd never wear 1 but I'm desperate here. I'm going to need to get some dressy pants and I've seen so many pretty ones but my body isn't workn how it used to with clothes. If they fit my legs they don't fit my stomach and if they fit my stomach both my legs fit in 1 leg of the pants literaly I was thinking maybe just maybe if I get one of those things I'd get into a size where I'm not floating in the legs but I don't wana look like a super hero with a thin body and huge arms lol From experience can any1 tell me which one works the best for you? I saw the curvation one at walmart thinkn bout that but not sure yet.... Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I have found that actually Spanx are not the best brand out there. They tend to fall apart pretty easy. There is a brand at Kohls, ummm I am drawing a blank on the brand, but I know that they are way better than Spanx. Oh, they are called Flexies! Love them!
As far as never thinking you would buy a pair, it is the one clothing piece you should have no matter your size. Oprah and Tyra have both done shows on the most important thing in your wardrobe is to have correct and supportive undergarments. Tyra said, that's why all the models look so good. She says she never leaves home without them! Even Heide Klumm (sorry about spelling). So don't look at wearing them as a weakness, think how could I have gone so long without them? Where have you been my whole life? And when you get to your goal weight...your first purchase should be a new bra and underware, then no matter what you put on you will be looking...H O T! Like Tyra says, Don't leave home without them!
Anytime I wear anything besides jeans I wear my spanx. I have what I would describe as lumps and bumps all over my stomach and sides and the spanx tighten and smooth them. When I was a size 18, I bought them and my aunt said, "You know they aren't going to make you skinny, right?" and I laughed and told her they are called spanx not miracles. They did prevent the digging in my belly feeling in my pants back then.
I wear either spanx or flexees almost all the time. My problem because I had a tummy tuck and still need a lower body lift they are too big on the stomach and tight on my thighs (I couldn't tell if that was your problem or yours was the opposite). I need them to smooth things out in my thighs because they have dimples because of the excess skin. I find the power panties by spanx or the same type by flexees are the best because they don't go high on the stomach.
i love my Spanx! They help with any sort of clingy fabric or when you just want to look smoother. Honestly, they have gotten me into many a formal dress.
I'm not sure if they would work for your issue. I mean, they might, depending on how close you fit into the pants in the waist. However, i still think they are something every woman should own...even if that kills the inner feminist in me
That's where I heard of spanx on tyra I watch her everyday lol well that's true if models wear them why not me I'm tryn to look good and everythn hangn out everywhere just doesn't cut it! oh and I was afraid of wearn them and then not wearn them I'd think people would see the diffrence
My problem is the opposite sometimes I wish my legs were bigger! My body is going thru a wierd phase I guess might be most my exercise is walkn I can put the pants on and even button them but still the legs are big and I'm short so it looks worst big from the legs then long

See, I'm just like you! I have a bigger tummy, and smaller legs, and pants shopping SUCKS!! lol.
but spanx, or something from wal mart will help out! Not as much as you would like, b/c it doesn't make you drop a pants size or anything, they just make unwanted bulges and lumps either appear not there or minimal.
I heard the Kymaro body shaper is excellent -- it's kinda pricey, but it doesn't have any boning or anything in it and it's a top and a bottom that's not connected. Makes bathroom trips so much easier! My roommate had the gastric bypass and she swears by it. Also sadly, I don't think it's sold in stores... but I've definitely been thinking about getting one.

I have the Target brand of Spanx and I wear them whenever I wear a dress or skirt, which is kind of often. I don't wear them for the shape factor though, mainly because I HATE when my legs rub together, and these seem to keep control on that. VS also has their own kind that come in different lengths.

I only wear mine to keep my legs from rubbing together as well... It was the reason I never wore a dress before
I have a bodyshaper (from just under the bust to the knees) to wear under party dresses, but I wouldn't wear one everyday as I feel really trapped in it. I don't wear trousers at all, only skirts and dresses with tights to stop the horrible thigh chafing. I have really big thighs btw and tiny calves and even tinier feet (my ex called me triangle legs) and a skirt is the only way to make me look a little more balanced.

My legs are the exact same way! As for body shapers, I wear them way more than I'd like to. I recently bought a few pairs of compression shorts, like the spandex ones that athletes wear (the 7 in ones) and they do wonders for keeping my thighs from getting too friendly. I live in skirts and so I can't imagine not wearing shorts or something nearly every day. My advice for trying to find dressy pants is wearing the body shaper to the store and trying from there. But I don't think you should get too invested in their miracle working, They slim a little, but the main reason I love them is that they make me look smooth. Spanx are kind of expensive, though. There are cheaper ones that I would try out first, if you want to.
