Cleaning out the jewelry drawer - an observation
I've always been "accessory challenged". I'm never quite sure what to buy when it comes to jewelry. As the years progressed, I've collected a lot of really-not-special stuff as well as some really pretty pieces, plus things that are no longer in fashion or I'm not sure what to do with them.
Some things I'll sell, some I'll give away to my nieces or save to give to my boys for when they have someone in their lives to whom they want to give jewelry. Some I might have reworked. Almost everything needs to be cleaned!
I haven't worn many rings in the last 10 years. But I bought some. I bought some when I weighed at least 25 lbs heavier and had them sized to fit. And it's odd that most of them don't fit me any longer, but not in the way I thought would happen. They're too small! I've always had chubby fingers around the base of my fingers and always have worn bigger sizes. Even at my thinnest, very close to goal, my finger size was around a 9. But did I lose weight in other body parts only to gain some back in my fingers?
Other parts of my jewelry-wearing anatomy seem to have sized down. All my shorter necklaces fit much more nicely now that my neck has slimmed down. Even my bracelets are looser and my watch needs a new smaller band. But my fingers are chubbier.
I find that really strange.
