I think all diet and exercise plans are off when you are sick. Your focus should be on resting and doing everything to help your body recover. Sometimes when I am at the beginning of a possible cold/illness and am just starting to feel like I might be getting sick, I will halt my exercise routine for several days just so I am not wearing my body down and I feel this can help my body stay stronger and fight off the illness faster. With the eating, I would try to eat a little something every few hours, maybe soup, crackers, half a PB&J sandwich, a yogurt, etc. I don't think your body will necessarily go into starvation mode especially since you aren't exercising and moving around to burn as many calories as you generally do. If you aren't feeling too badly, try to eat your normal intake but if you just aren't hungry I wouldn't force myself to eat more than a little bit here and there.
