Default OK here we go.. finally ! Deep breath...

First post since registering on the site in Feb 2008!

Decided to finally become vocal rather than surfing and reading ! Simply love this site. The success stories are so inspirational.

Have been dieting on and off for years, since teens, and I guess I could be described as a yo-yo dieter. Weight has gone up, and down a bit.. but never down to my target! But if at first you don't succeed.. and all that jazz

Have tried so many (million) different diets, eating plans etc.. from Weight watchers, to Atkins, to South beach, to Slim fast, to Lipotrim! ALL worked for me but sadly never for long and I think that the reason could be largely due to not having someone who is taking the same journey, to talk with. There's nothing worse than going out for a meal or drinks with non dieting friends, and nobody understanding why you wont have the pizza, or the dessert. Why would they? They've never had to diet..

Hoping I can find some buddies on here to chat with daily about how we're getting on, and to compare notes.

This Summer I was so proud of myself. For two months I cut out all white carbs, dairy, and only drank alcohol once a week. I never weighed myself (unlike all other diets I've done) because I didn't want to get discouraged but I really noticed a difference, in my face and clothes. In early September we had people to visit for a couple of weeks (I'm living in Malta) so the healthy eating went out the window and sadly...stayed that way. However! I've finally given myself a good hard kick up the proverbial and I'm ready to jump right back on the healthy lifestyle.

I'm 28 and female, my diet is mostly vegetarian (sometimes I'll eat fish) and I try not to have too much dairy. I follow the Mediterranean diet. Exercise at the moment is walking to and from work daily (10 min walk) but I know I need more. I hate exercise. Ugh!

So.. wish me luck! And good luck to you!

Xx Sarah

Hi Sarah - sounds like you're well on your way to reaching your goal and getting healthy and fit!

Glad to have you back with us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained!

There are lots of people here with more to lose and lots with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a short time myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome back - join in by inspiring us and being inspired! YOU CAN DO THIS!

Thanks Leeway for your kind words!

I totally agree with you about how inspiring and helpful the forum is. One thing that's so great is how positive and supportive everyone is. Some forums can get catty and argumentative but not here as everyone realises that we are all working towards the same goal.

As for me I try my best to take everything one day at a time, and not to be punishing to myself. I have come to realise over the years that depriving yourself and obsessing is just a miserable way to be, so I try to enjoy my life and my food. So out with the faddy quick fix diets and in with good whole natural food and yes the odd glass of wine!

The very best of luck to you too !! Thanks for the positive thoughts!

Sarah
