For the last several months I've been maintaining a food/exercise journal by hand. I write down everything I eat, the time I eat it, the exercise I do, and all the stats from my pedometer everyday.
I'm looking to move this whole shenanigan to an online journal. I've signed up to FitDay but I find it frustrating that there is no place to write the time. Also I don't know all the calories I burn while doing aerobics videos and weight training, so the activities section is useless.
I do like the graphs/charts.
Any suggestions how to make Fitday work better for me or are there any recommendations for a different online thing? I could sign up for all them and try them out but I'd like a few suggestions first. What online journals do you like and why?
Hi-my favorite is thedailyplate.com it is a big list of different exercises to choose from and when you enter your food data you can choose either like breakfast, lunch, dinner, pre-exercise, post-exercise etc or you can choose what time specifically you ate that meal..give it a try it is my favorite so far..i have tried sparkpeople and fitday and i didnt like those as much as i like this one.
I was a total addict to fitday until I got my bodybugg. Now I find it easier to just use that since my calories burned per day has to be downloaded to their site.
I know fitday has a journal section. Maybe you can enter times, etc. there?
Also, if you do a search for "aerobics" on the activities section, there are a few listed that might match your calorie burn for the videos that you do.
I second the daily plate. I've used fitday, calorie king and spark people, n and the daily plate is the best and easiest for me!! yo u can get to it from livestrong.com or thedailyplate.com they are partners of some sorts so either website will do the same thing
I third the Daily Plate @ Livestrong.com. Love the set-up of the food intake, but also like that I can choose either an activity or I can map out a "loop" if I walk, run, or bike outside and it'll give me the mileage and calories.
I have been using www.myfitnesspal.com and I love it!!! It has a lot of brand name and not so brand name entries. I love that it already has my local supermarket's version of foods in there (for the most part).

Thanks so much for posting that website!! I love it!! I have an app on my iphone that allows me to track my calories on the go, but this is so easy for when I'm at home.
I think besides thedailyplate sparkpeople's calorie tracker is also popular. I still stick with fitday PC, limping along, because it has so many custom foods and I absolutely HATE logging things by "meal". Fitday is the only one who lets me put my food in a big chunk. Also log on gowearfit but Body Media's tracking service isn't anything to write home about besides having accurate measures due to weighing everything in grams.

I totally agree! I love the myfitnesspal.com it has Schwans and all kinds of take out food items, plus the everyday stuff i get from the grocery store. I discovered it last year when I was on here doing the Biggest Loser challenge last fall. I've been using it ever since.
You can customize the entries - in the food diary, it has 6 places to enter food (I think the general is listed as bfast, lunch, dinner, snack, drinks, etc). I've changed mine so I know when to eat every 3 hours (7am breakfast, 10am snack, 1pm lunch, 4pm snack, 7pm dinner, 10pm snack) - and you can track your water intake, and it has a section at the bottom for notes - so you could always write the times, and such there.
the exercise entries are also great - plus you can add exercises (like wii game or soemthing) and can also add foods (and make meals - like PB sandwich, chips, and cookie can be listed as a meal, so it's quick to refer back to).
Another fan of The Daily Plate here. I did fitday way back in the day, but found it fustrating because they don't seem to have that big of a database of foods. TDP does, and seems pretty easy to use.
