Food to eat when you're sick

  • What are anyone's favorite things to eat when they're sick? I like to make chicken soup, chili, etc but I'd love some fresh ideas. It's too easy to slip into comfort foods that aren't terribly good for us. I'm not feeling up to cooking anything labor intensive right now, so something easy would be great!
  • I call this my V8 soup
1 small head of cabbage chopped bite size
    4 cups of water
2 cups of carrots chopped bite size
2 cups of yellow squash bite size
    1 onion
    1 can of corn drained
1 red or yellow bell pepper
2 cans of diced delmonte tomatoes
3 chicken bullion cubes or chicken broth
a tiny bit of sugar to cut the sour of the tomato
salt and peper to taste. note :cook the vegi's that take longer 1st like carrots and just let it all stew together

good stuff and it will really get ya going
  • veggie soup! imhaving it almost daily now because of my ulcers
  • I think veggie soup is a cure all. If I'm feeling at all under the weather I immediately drag out the soup pot

Broth based soups are always good. My favorite "elixer" is 7-Up and orange Emergen-C.
  • I'm also a fan of chicken and dumplings soup. Yes, I'm from the south. I forget how many points it is exactly but it's really not all that bad. 2 packs of Liptons chicken noodle soup and a can of Sue Bee's dumplings. Sue Bee's brand is the best, IMO but it seems to be hard to find now a days. You may actually be able to find a lower calorie dumpling too.
  • oatmeal with a nice cup of tea. Yum!
