Okay so there are sooo many places to track calories online nowadays. But sometimes the calorie counts don't seem to be accurate. Where have you found the most accurate calorie count results to be?
i use fitday , i made myself an account and its really easy and straightforward i love it! and i weigh everything on my digital scale. i'm abit OCD like that haha but i enjoy calculating everything haha
Ya know there really is no EXACT, EXACT, EXACT way to know for sure just how many calories we're taking in. One zucchini, though even the same size COULD have different calories in it, depending on where and how it was grown. I just do that best with what's offered to me and never ever sweat the "ooh I wonder how precise this is?". And it's worked for me, as I've lost all the weight I've needed to and kept it off for over two years.
In other words, yes - track those calories, choosing one of the *reliable* sites (like's been mentioned) and don't worry about the exact-ness of it.
I posted in the other thread, but in essence what I said was that I trust calorieking (and that's pretty much the only site I use) for all the raw ingredients that I would put into a meal. When I go out for something that's hard to track exactly, like Thai food or something, I use calorieking and other websites to get an estimate. I don't eat out like that enough that it makes a difference if I ama few hundred calories off a couple of times a month.
Also, I repeat everything that rockinrobin just said!!!
I use sparkpeople.com- I will check if I don't think it's accurate I input my own (it has the option to enter things not listed).
You will never be 100% correct, it's really only an estimate- so I wouldn't fuss to much about it. I am sure that my calories are never more than 100 off as it is- that's when I was calorie counting anyways.
I think it was rockinrobin who said this.. we didn't get fat by worrying about if we should count the calories of an apple as a medium or a large apple.
So as long as we are eating healthy foods, making reasonable portion sizes and are in the ballpark of our calorie range we should be ok!
I have found sparkpeople.com a good place for your daily counts. It allows you to enter your own Nutritional information in order to get a pretty good accurate count as well as a full report. Try it and see. The site has so many other sources and resources all in one area, which I like very much.

No, that's not my line, but I like it!
What I have said many times, is that I always count an apple as 100 calories. Though sometimes it may be 120, other times it may be 80. I don't sweat it. Same goes with cauliflower and lots of other veggies, I estimate 3 cups when in actuality it could be 3.75 or 2.5. And I've had no problem losing the weight and keeping it off using this method. Now of course if we're talking higher calorie items, such as tablespoons of oil, a precise measurement IS required.
I also didnt see livestrong.com on the thread yet! Its a really good site. I actually use fitday.com and would switch over but I dont want to lose or have to input all of my food again to switch over.
I use mydailyplate.com/livestrong its great and Ive even checked a few of my labels with the labels they have and they have pretty much checked out, but for the most part I plug in my own numbers
