Hey! Welcome to the site.. I'm still fairly new to this site but boy let me tell you this site has given me hope! I have to lose about 80 lbs as well... and I thought that I was way too far gone to ever get back to normal and healthy.. but by looking at the goal album on this site you will find real people who worked hard and lose AMAZING amounts of weight in healthy ways! I am currently calorie counting... I talked to my doctor and my daughter's doctor (shes only 8 months and I"m still breastfeeding her) about how many calories I should eat a day and have gone off of that... I just write down and count EVERYTHING that goes into my mouth.. I also hate the gym! I hate the fact that i'm sooo overweight that when I exercise I feel like I'm dying and thats embarrassing when you have a 100lbs girl running 10 miles on the tredmill next to you... Also with a baby I don't have time to go to the gym.. So I am doing several different types of exercise videos here in the privacy of my own home... These are the things that have been working for me so far and I've lost 5 lbs, I'm full of energy, and best of all NOT HUNGRY! I wish you luck and hope my small pieces of advice might help you in finding whats best for you
Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained!
I've only been here a few weeks myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.
So welcome aboard - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!
Welcome, Blue Rain and all other newcomers and lurkers! Blue Rain, I set my initial goal at 65 pounds even though I really need to lose closer to 80 or 85. I was overwhelmed at the thought of setting that big of a goal; I wasn't sure it could be done. But being part of this online community has shown me that it CAN be done. Many, many others have done it. I can do it. You can do it.
Please don't be discouraged, because you're in a place full of people who understand how you feel and the support here is amazing. You CAN do this, and you can do it without going to the gym. Go to the Goal section of the forum and look at the before and after pictures. Read the stories. It's so very encouraging to realize that LOTS of people do lose weight and keep it off; if they can do it, so can we.
Well you've got the right place for support and inspiration! I don't think it's a matter of finding something that will stop you being hungry etc, you just have to make the decision that you want to do something about your weight!
You have to accept that you might be hungry for the first little bit, that you might hate the healthy food at first, that you will feel hard-done-by, that exercise is tough at the start.... But you have to decide if that's WORTH it to be the best person you can be. And you deserve it! Especially after the year you've had.
I think it is worth it. Yep, it's hard at times. But it's no easier for the thousands of other people on here. I think if they did it, so can we! If it seems too daunting at first, why not just start with eating better, cutting portions and a walk around the block a couple of times a week.
Hey Blue! I'm new to this site as well...and I was 194(my highest weight) when I started. I've been doing Weight Watchers and it's been great! I know what you mean about the gym...I can't afford it nor do I wish to be surrounded by a group of skinny women and bulked out men lol I walk 2 miles a day and it's been going well so far, not sure about when the weather gets colder. I hate winter!
This site has been a great inspiration to me as well as motivating!!! Search around it and just jump in where you feel comfortable...As far as what plan to follow etc. Just start out small while your figuring all that out....maybe give up soda or drink more water...baby steps! Take one day at a time and always remember that YOU are worth it!
I am sorry you are not having the best year. I hope that you stay with 3fc, b/c it has helped me A LOT. My best piece of advise is do what works for YOU in the way of eating...... don't do anything that you would not want to have to do for the rest of your life. I have gained and lost MANY times.... what makes this one different, I am not on a diet-- I am truly changing my life one day at a time. Yes, 80 pounds seems daunting, but just take it one day at a time, one change at a time. Figure out what is doable in your life and run with it. And, remember this time next year is going to come no matter what...... so why not be at goal or close to it? Good luck--- well, luck has little to do with it...... it is hard work. And, I am stealing something someone else said on another thread..... I have lost 75+ pounds and I feel like I have won the lottery!
Welcome Blue Rain! I too am new to this site, but have found it astoundingly motivating. To see the success of others who have been in the same down and out place and to see their amazing progress makes me feel like I can do it too. Check out some of posts in the goals section and non scale victories, when I saw some of the obstacles and huge amounts of weight people have lost, I thought, "hey, there is no reason I can't do that too!" I get on the forum every day and it is a great motivator for me. Just take small steps and believe in yourself. YOU CAN DO THIS, AND I KNOW YOU WILL! I spend a lot of time online at my job, so feel free to message me if there's anything I can help you with!
Breathe!!! Blue Rain, we can be your friends for now. Concentrate on one thing at a time. You can do this. There are lots of paths that can take you to health. For me it's calorie counting with a vast focus on whole foods. Most of us here can identify with any or all of your feelings regarding food, overeating and the way it impacts our lives. Make this about YOU. Your food, exercise and sleep need to come before anything right now. One thing at a time. One decision at a time. One step in front of the other.
