How do you go out to a party and keep things in track?
There are so many birthdays this time of year, with all my friends. I had some wine and mostly stayed away from stuff, didn't snack on the tray of junk food that was put out. I did pretty good. Only had two small treats.
But what are your guys tips for going out and what to eat and drink? What kind of alcoholic drinks won't kill my diet? I know not to go near coolers, they make me sick anyways.
I prefer whiskey and diet coke, but that can't be good can it?
It seems the key is vodka or most clear liquors and diet mixers, but be weary of Splenda.
Personally I'm on a drinking hiatus so I don't really know. I've been a bit of a hermit lately. I think the important thing is to attempt to plan ahead. If you know you're going to be drinking, save some of the calories or points if you follow WW. Try to make the wisest decisions you can and live your life.
I agree, dancing helps - it also helps to be a huge lightweight! I usually get a captain and diet coke or a pint of dark beer and I can nurse it all night and still get pretty tipsy... I also try to snack at home before going out - if I'm not hungry, I'm much less likely to get something gross at the bar.
Well it doesnt take much to getme little tipsy so I usually save up my calories for 2 or 3 drinks and I stay away from anything super fruity or frozen.
I love lime Smirnoff with diet coke...or vanilla Smirnoff with diet coke. Apple vodka with apple juice is good too...and while apple juice isn't great, its better than a lot of other options if you're worried about it.
If you want a non hard liquor option, Mike's Hard Lemonade comes in a light version, as does Smirnoff ice. If you drop sour Skittles into either of them,it makes the drink taste like the sour skittles with no real added calories
Ooh duckyyellowfeet, I might have to try the whole sour Skittles thing this weekend... Generally, just get yourself a cup of mostly your choice of alcohol and a little coke or something. I tend to nurse a very strong cup of mostly vodka for most nights when I drink, which heavily limits my intake of other higher calorie drinks. Then, just try to have more fun... who says you have to be wasted to have fun?

Lately I have been doing the Beck's Premier Light (64 calories in 12 oz) with a healthy does of fresh lemon juice and occasionally a bit of freshly cracked sea salt. I know the salt part sounds kind of crazy, but I think it is delicious. The beer, on its own, tastes kind of bland (as you would expect of a 64 cal beer), and it has a low alcohol content, but that turns out to be a good thing for me. It takes the same amount of time to drink, so I ultimately take in less, and it makes my diet easier to stick with the next morning (which is when I tend to run into real problems).
Bebe - adding salt doesn't sound icky. My bro and I make "mexican beers" which consists of a salt rimmed glass, Corona (or Corona light), 1/2 lime squeezed, add enough tobasco to taste (I usually put 8-12 drops). That way you have a kick to it, just depends on how much of a kick there is to it. It is so yummy.
Mmm that does sound yummy! My beer of choice is corona and Im def going to try that! =)
I havnt been in a going clubbingdrinking situation yet. I always heard that you should drink clear liquors though.
I personally would probably just really watch my calories throughout the day, work out twice, or just have fun and go strong the next day! lol
Sounds like I might have to go from whiskey to rum.
Beer with a salt rimmed glass actually sounds delicious! I don't normally like the taste of beer, and the idea of it having a salted rim makes it sound a lot more desirable to me. I'll have to give it a shot! (no pun intended)
Beer= bad. Salt= BAD! That is awful. Salt makes you retain water and beer is sugar and starch. Then you are bloated double time the next day! Any beer and salt should be avoided. If you HAVE to use salt use mortons "light" salt and you should never exceed 1/2 tsp a day!
Vodka with seltzer water is the "best" but alcohol is sugar and it was 8 years in a bar (working) that got me this way so I can honestly tell you... "DON'T DRINK YOUR CALORIES!!" I love Diet Coke but as far as the healthiest drink... remember clear.
Seriously, I find nights out so hard while trying to lose weight. I had a big night recently, my first in a long time, and I find it takes me about a week to get back on track! It's so bad. I eat bad food, don't manage to exercise and then that somehow lasts for days. Grrr. Makes me mad.
I'm such an all or nothing person.
Sorry, I realise that post wasn't much help to you, it was just me having a whinge! My suggestion would be cut back on the nights out if you can, dance lots and try to avoid alcohol where possible.
