Default Feeling hungry - not enough points!

I have been doing Weight Watchers for over a year and I'm close to goal now so my points allotment is quite low - 19 for the day. I also exercise but I've always made it a habit to NOT eat my workout points if I can help it (although these days I amost always eat one or two).

I'm finding that since my points dropped from 20 to 19 I'm hungry a lot of the time, but especially in the evenings. I "spend" my points wisely - weight watchers bagels for breakfast with egg white and cheese, fiber 1 bar for a snack, fruit for another snack, a protein shake and salad for lunch and either chicken, a veggie dog or veggie burger or some other similar healthy option with veggies and some carbs (potato or whole grain bread, yams, etc.) for dinner.

Can anyone make any food suggestions that will fit within my points and help me stay full?

Thanks!

If at all possible, I would try to substitute the Fiber One Bar..... from what I can remember they are about 3-4 points? I would eat WW Giant Fudge Bar, or pre pop some 1pt popcorn (I think they have Jiffy Pop and Orville Red....). Other than that...... your list looks squeaky clean. What does your leader say?

The Fiber Plus with chocolate and almonds are only 2 points, as compared to 3 for Fiber One. And they're really good. When I'm low on points I eat a crapload of green veggies (green beans or snap peas are my fav.) Technically, yes, they eventually become 1 point instead of 0, but it takes a lot. As my leader says, none of us got here by eating too many veggies.

I'm afraid that's all I've got. I'm still at a whopping 32 points; 19 sounds impossible to me. Good luck. I know you can make it work!

Hot air popcorn. You can eat alot for 1 pt. More vegetables. I would replace the Fiber One bar with something more filling for the points. Maybe some more dairy.

why not allot a couple of WPA's per day.. I know you said you don't eat your AP's but use some of the WPA's!! You'll still be "on program"!

personally I would eat the AP's. How many do you earn a day? you don't have to eat all of them, but if you are hungry you should EAT.

I would ditch the carbs in the morning and stock up more on protein. If it's possible can you do like a veggie filled omelete and no bagel in the morning? what kind of cheese are you using? are you having protein with your salad? getting all of your fats in as well? I would ditch the fibre 1 bar as well and have, yes, another protein snack. And for the evening munchies, what about a Greek FF yoghurt with fruit and Flax Seed?

By the new formula (that caps fiber credit at 4g) the 'worst' Fiber One bar (Chocolate Mocha) is less than 2.5 points. I like the apple streusal, which is only 2 points. By the old formula (no fiber cap) it's only 1-1.5 points.

Fiber Plus with chocolate and almonds is actually on par with the chocolate mocha Fiber One.

If I only have one fiber bar in a day I count only 1 point, since all of the fiber is legitimately healthy, plus it has 10% DV of Calcium. If I have two I'll count the second as 2-2.5 points.

That being said, while I really really like both Fiber One and Kellogg's Fiber Plus, I must say that the Fiber Plus edges out the Fiber One. A bit more crunchy and satisfying, like a Rice Krispies treat.

Green tea helps suppress appetite (it's been scientifically supported), and capsaicin (peppers and/or cayenne pepper) is even better. I have a friend who used to drink a water bottle full of water mixed with cayenne pepper. No kidding. Yes, it was spicy. But she's a little eccentric.

Thanks for all the tips guys! It's true I don't eat enough dairy and I love my carbs so it's been tough to give up the bagel (it's only 2 points). I've replaced the bagel with WW bread (2 slices for 1 point) which gives me an extra point to "spend" later on a snack...am going to incorporate some of the yogurt as well.
