Exclamation after a hiatus - I'm back

I've been gone for a long time, and I need to get back on the horse.

I don't like to make excuses, but the end of the school year = busy time for me (as a school psychologist). After the end of the school year, I had family visit, then I moved, then suddenly it was the start of the school year (busy again!). Now it's October and I have gained weight. Not sure how much - I haven't gotten on a scale in a while (scared - I KNOW there has been significant gain). So I'm back. I'm focusing on this. I need a new schedule for exercise, new diet/food ideas, etc. So basically, I'm starting from scratch.

Negatives: I no longer live in an apartment complex with a gym. I no longer live 5 minutes from work, I drive 45 min each way so I lose a lot of my "free time" for exercise.

Positives: I no longer have to make an effort to go for a hike, or go skiing. Hiking is literally right outside my door, and skiing is a short 8 minute drive away...just have to wait for the slopes to open for the season.

So how do I start? What can I do? My BF lives with me, and is one of those eat McDonald's 5x/wk and whatever else he wants and won't ever gain an ounce. Me, I have a salad and have to worry about type/amount of dressing.

I need help. I need encouragement. Tell me what to do!!

Is that Frisco CO? I used to live there, and it was the easiest place to maintain weight that I ever lived. The lifestyle is SO active!

Check out the rec centers if you have time for them - the one in Silverthorne is good (I used to live right across the street from it!) And they used to be affordable for county residents. If your commute is Denver, you drive right by that exit on your way home.

As far as the BF - that's the battle I've always had. My husband is just now having to watch what he eats a little bit, at 42. I recommend getting used to being very strict about what you eat when away from him to leave yourself a bit more slack when you're with him. Also, let him know that this matters to you - he might be supportive and make it a lot easier!

I bet you're busy! I'm a student - I need some psuchological help too! *cries a little-stressed!* You help out so many people, you should glad of what you do.

I guess you just have to see how much you've gained, and get on your plan! And pack a whole lot of hym stuff in your car! Depending on the kind of school you work at, maybe you can use their gym? And lunch packing will have to be very careful

Yes it's CO! I love it here!! We never take the car anywhere unless we are going out of town, it's so easy to walk to wherever you need to go! I've heard good things about the rec center in Silverthorne, unfortunately my commute is to Avon/Edwards area (I work for 6 different schools). I don't think I would be able to make the trip to Silverthorne to work out...gotta take care of the pup. But I'm excited for ski season. I have a season pass to Copper so my plan is to keep my gear either in my car or in my BF's locker (he works there) and stop on my drive past to get at least a couple of runs in.
As for lunch packing, I'm working on that...today I have 4 slices of ham (70 cals) and 2 slices reduced carb bread (90 cals) a banana, an apple and some carrots...but the BF wants homemade mac and cheese for dinner...as in cream and cheese and butter....I think I can do it as long as I just have a little and supplement the rest of my meal with some veggies or something. It's just been so long since I've made mac and cheese (~2yrs) that it's way hard to say no...

welcome back!

I would slowly change eating, when i first started out it would have been too hard to change everything over night. So i would get lunches sorted, then work on dinner. As for exercise, you said you had hiking right where you are, so i would start by doing that and then wait for ski season! (i am green with envy )
