I know I'm a little early but I wanted to post today's weigh in & my strategy for the week before I go. I was glad to see a 1 pound loss today I didn't make the 10 pound mark yet but I know I'll get there if I stick with the fundamentals. I've gotten 2 menus faxed to me that we'll be going to on vacation (and have a third from their website) - One thing that's good about going to the beach is all the great (low point) seafood available. I'm planning on having low point breakfast & lunch and a reasonable dinner - mostly grilled fish.
I hope you all have a wonderful week!

I hope Judy is having a relaxing time at the beach. If you read this when you get home, Judy, here's an atta girl for a great loss.
I had a pretty good weekend again. I've journaled and stayed within points and got in all my water. Didn't do quite as good with the fruits and veggies and dairy, but I've stayed on track now for almost two weeks, which lately is a record for me.
Judy, hope you have a wonderful time at the beach this week. I know you'll do great foodwise. Way to go on your loss this week too.
Carla, congratulations on another good weekend! Sounds like you're pretty much in the groove these days. And yay for getting in all your water. We went to a local farmer's market yesterday and stocked up on tons of fresh produce, so there's no problem with lack of fruit or veggies in my diet.
I didn't have a stellar weekend as far as eating OP goes, and didn't record a bite, so I'll have to be better this week. Don't think I did much major damage though. Spent an hour at the gym on Saturday after work, and I have a training appointment tomorrow morning, so that'll take care of exercise. It's just too hot here to get on the treadmill, although I did get out for a short walk with the dogs early this morning.
Jen is coming home from California tomorrow, and will be home till the end of August. Its been quiet around here without her!
Karen - Mmmm - I envy you those fresh veggies and fruits. Our farmer's market is on Thursday, but it isn't very large. I'm hoping to find some good stuff there though. I'm so impressed by how faithfully you've been going to the gym. You're doing great things for your metabolism. How nice that Jen will be home. When does she go back to school?
Judy-I hope you are having a wonderful week at the beach. Congrats on the loss!!
Carla-How is Anna doing? I hope her mouth is feeling better. Sounds like you are doing great with eating, and what a great loss last week!
Karen-I hope you enjoy your time with your daughter. The town I live in has many little farms and stands, great for the veggies. There also many places to pick your own fruits (Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries) I have a couple of blueberries bushed in my yard and hoping to plant a couple of cherry trees and a plum tree next year.
I started a yoga tape this weekend, WOW, I don't think I will ever be able to do some of those poses. I just dont think my knee was meant to go behind my ear (with a straight leg anyway). My super busy work life is slowing down and home life is starting to give way, I actually had nothing to do yest. after work. I will be heading to Montreal next month for a soccer tournement and a weekend at the lake is all that is planned for us as far as vacations, except a week by the pool for me and Bobby (Steve will be working). Weight wise I am ok, gaining and losing the same few pounds, have not been exactly faithful. Summer seems so hard to stay on track 100%. I will have to work on that, I know it is up to me to say NO.
Michele - Ana is doing just fine. Thanks for asking. I'm glad to hear life is slowing down for you somewhat. Sounds like you've been doing a good job of maintaining. With a hectic schedule like your's, that's terrific.
I had another good day yesterday. Spent to many points on snacks and BTLS, but stayed within points. Tonight I'm going to a meeting where there will be lots of snacky kinds of things. I plan on having a nice big salad before I leave. I'm also bringing some fruit. I figure I'll have some points for a few things and that will be enough to keep me happy. I really want to do well the next few days as I have several challenges looming in the horizon. Friday is my mom's 75th birthday. We're heading to the fish fry where she works on Fridays to have dinner with my cousins, who will be bringing a cake. Sunday we're having a dinner party for her. Then the next weekend we leave for vacation. So I have to be doubly diligent to leave myself some cushion.
Just wanted to report, while I have a chance, a 2.4 lb loss. I've squeeked into a new decade, too, so I'm pretty exited. Now my goal is take a firm hold of the 250s next week.
Carla! Congratulations on your terrific loss! Way to go! You're on a roll for sure...nice to hear you sounding confident and focussed.
Michele - so nice to have you back! We've been missing you. Glad to hear that things are settling down for you a little. I always feel a little schizophrenic (not literally!) when things get too hectic. I know what you mean about hard to eat right in the summer...a cold beer on a hot day is just way too tempting (or a DQ cone).
Nice to have Jen home, she's gone veggie this summer, still eating dairy though. It shouldn't be too hard to accommodate her food choices, and it'll encourage me (when Mike loosens the chef's reins) to try some new meat free recipes.
No gain or loss this week; did some good work at the gym yesterday. The next six weeks will be focussing on doing the same amount of weight with lots more reps.
Hope you have a good day. We're enjoying a heat wave here right now.
Karen - Congrats on the maintain. We must have sent our heatwave to you. It's been bearable the past couple of days and we've even been able to get away with open windows instead of air conditioning. We're supposed to get the heat back tomorrow though. No rain yet, maybe today. I plan on trying some meatless recipes too. We tend to eat meatless at least a couple of times a week. I have several of the Moosewood cookbooks, so I'm gong to be looking through those.
Angie - Hope all is well with you. We miss you.
Had a run in with some cheese yesterday, and then we went out to dinner and I had a burger. It was very good and I enjoyed every bite. I have to get back on track today. I'm meeting a friend for lunch. The restaurant we're going to is on Dottie's site, so I'm off to check out what I can have.
Carla - don't worry about one burger, you've been doing great and it's no big deal. Burgers everyday could be problematic . Good for you for checking out the restaurant on Dottie's, preplanning is key to success. Our heat has cooled down a lot this afternoon; it's quite pleasant not to be sweltering.
I took my gym stuff to work today so I could stop in on the way home. Stayed up a bit late last night so I was really drooping after work; I'd just about talked myself out of going, but I heard on the radio that there was a major accident on my route home, so I did head to the gym and did a full workout. By the time I was done, the accident was cleared and traffic was only a bit backed up.
I won't have the opportunity to get on here for the rest of the day, so wanted to wish everyone a good weekend! Eat well, drink lots, and journal everything!
Karen - I'd been craving a hamburger. Now it's out of my system. Good for you for going to the gym even though you were tired.
I managed to bank several points last night. Of course, having a bit of an upset tummy helped with that. No matter - I need those points in the bank. I think I'll be ok with the fish fry tonight - I've had a low point day. Tomorrow we're going with friends an outdoor concert complete with picnic. I'll have to make it a low point day tomorrow too. And then Sunday is the big dinner for my mom. I know what I'm having, though, so I should be able to plan around it. Even if I do end up going over a few points, at least I'm planning for these events, rather than throwing my hands up and saying "oh well, might as well eat all I want".
