Default lunges/squats everyday?

I recently heard that Beyonce does squats and lunges everyday. I know you are supposed to have a rest day between weight training. Is it ok to do lunges and squats everyday since it's just your body weight?

Thanks!

Hey Katie, first of all, love the Steelers logo haha And omg I can't imagine doing squats and lunges every day. Using my own body weight wasn't enough for me anymore so now I do walking lunges with an 8lb barbell in each hand. And I can usually only do it on one of my weight training days because I'm so sore for the next few days. Not to mention if you do them every day I think your boday adapts to them and you'll stop getting the results you want...unless switch it up and do different kinds of lunges or something. Who know..maybe she does do them everyday, it would explain her awesome booty and thighs LOL

The best way to tone up is to use heavy weights and fatigue the muscles by 10-12 reps. If you do this you should have a day of rest in between. But if you just use your own body weight I don't see why you couldn't do them every day.

there is a way of training called freestyle training where you workout your legs everyday to help make the muscle/areas smaller. The Slim in 6 workout program works this way.

Different workouts work for different people, I don't think it would hurt to try unweighted lunges and squats everyday and see how it works for you.

Someone here pointed out one time that people overestimate overtraining when our bodies are meant to handle some physical labor everyday and it would be pretty darn hard to over-train using no weights or 5lb-8lb dumbbells.

I also hear that Beyonce does 100, 1 minute planks a day. Personally I don't have that kind of time, but it obviously works.

Thanks everyone for the good points! It does make sense that my body would adapt to it. I think I'm going to try it. We'll see how it goes. It's hard to work out 3 days a week, but I'm going to try to fit in just a few minutes of squats and lunges every day.
