I am in the market to get a treadmill so I can start running at home in the wee hours of the morning. I don't know anyone IRL who has one, so I can't get any suggestions. I am hoping some of you out there can help me out with a few questions.
First, I am looking to get one without anything super electronic on it. I'd like it to count calories, keep time, and calculate distance. I DO NOT want any of those moveable arm things.
So here are the questions I can think of. If you know any other information I might need, please feel free! Or if you have any questions for me, let me know. Thanks in advance!!

My advise is to carefully read www dot treadmilldoctor dot com. That website has a wealth of information on picking a treadmill or elliptical for home use. Since your choice will likely be limited by budget, space and how you will use it, what I like might not be the best choice for you. Good luck!
I just bought a FreeMotion incline trainer, and I couldn't be happier with it. I'd recommend, if you have the budget, looking at incline trainers, for a few reasons. First, you can run on them like a regular old treadmill, which is great. BUT - if you got an injury where you couldn't withstand the impact, or just for general cross-training, you can walk at a high incline, get the same cardio benefits (heartrate and calorie burn are higher since you're at a big incline) but avoid triggering the injury. It's just a way more versatile machine, IMO.
Mine cost $1200, at Costco. I use it for running, sprint interval running, and major hill walking/hike simulations. I've been using mine for a few months and I'm loving it. Mine also came with iFit workout cards, which control your machine for you for a specific workout, and they're great - they keep it mixed up so I don't get bored and continue to be challenged.

I also recommend reading reviews on the site treadmill doctor to get an indepth review of all brands out there. Runner's world is also another site to check out. After reading several reviews online and actually going to different stores trying them out myself I finally decided on the treadmill I bought. I also have a knee problem, so, had to buy something that would not make it worse. I'm VERY happy with my purchase. Also, make sure you have good shoes before you go try them out in the store. It makes ALL the difference.
(1) LandiceL7 Pro Sports Trainer (they have 4 models). Their pro trainer is the simplest model panel wise and cheaper.
(2) I paid $3900 (including tax, shipping and installation). Depending on where you purchase from, $$ might be slightly different. Also, you have to purchase Landice from the nearest dealer who is within 60 miles of your location. Landice is very particular about that otherwise you lose your warranty. Also, I negotiated with the price. They have a lifetime warranty on - parts, frame, wear items. Not something you see a lot. The dealer I purchased this from had a no interest financing option which I took advantage of.
(3) I've been using it since December 2008, 6 days/week. I absolutely love it.
I bought a lifespan CHIEF treadmill from lifespan fitness half year ago, It cost me $1400, I really love it as many programs and also I can set a new program myself.
Usually I do running and walking on treadmill, and it also can incline auto. After 10 mins running I can use speed interval feature switch to 4 mins walking. It is really convenient.
And I'm in australia, I'm not sure if they have business in US.
I use a Precor. I can't remember how much it was but I use it for jogging. These are the same ones used at 24 Hour Fitness. I've had it for about 3 months.
My family wants to buy treadmill, and we have heard a lot suggestions from our friends, they all talked about the price, and the quality on the treadmills they bought from, the local mall, or the local dealer and ebay or evern from some kind of online shop like zorromall.com online shop. But no one told me about what really concerned that is we want to share it with whole family. I have parents, two kids and also my beautiful wife.
