Just call me Hoover, because I am inhaling everything!!!!! Help! I don't get this way often, but every once in awhile, I can eat anything and everything in sight!!!!!! I am a compulsive eater, and I have gotten control over most of my binges, but tonight is soooooo hard!!! Any support out there or commiserations would be helpful! Thank you!!!!!

Default Binge night

Hope you survived your binge night! Can you pinpoint what set you off? Are you dealing with some stressful situations right now that made you break down and binge for comfort?

I'm also a binge eater and am struggling to get it under control. Most of my binges are anxiety-related, so I'm learning relaxation techniques to substitute for the eating. Sometimes I'm successful at averting binges, sometimes (like last night) I am not. When I'm not, I have let the stress build too much until it feels intolerable. Then I give in to the urge to binge because I feel so desperate to alleviate the anxiety.

Journalling when the binge monster rears its ugly head is another technique to try. Write about why you want and don't want to binge, what you were thinking about when the urge struck etc.

Binge-ing is a tough thing to battle, but there are lots of us out here fighting alongside you!

Make a vow not to beat up on yourself for what you did (or didn't do). That only lowers your self-esteem more and sets you up for more trouble. Tell yourself it's over and think about what caused it and what you could do NEXT TIME to avert it.

Most of my binges are anxiety related too....and it's good to hear from someone who struggles like I do.

I think last night was mainly due to stress- I have finals, I'm looking for a job, and I'm moving- all next week. I haven't been sticking with my WW plan for a couple of weeks, and I feel out of control there. My house is a mess and I just don't have the oomph to clean it (this is directly correlated to my depression).

I also have a degree of OCD, and WW was becoming an obsession to me, which is why I stopped following it, but now I just feel so out of control of my life.......

Thanks again for your post...the journalling idea is a good one.

If you're a praying woman, please send a little one up for me.

Default Binge Queen

I am also a binge queen, don't feel badly, someone posted on my thread that a lot of people who follow plans like ww that we do have a problem with out of control eating too.

I had a bad night too last night, but I agree with Shari that journalling is helpful, and not letting the stress build too much. I made that mistake and have paid in full!

We can all do this if we help eachother and talk about it as much as possible.

Take care

Belle

Hi everyone, I was literally standing at the stove eating the rest of the fried rice I made for dinner, just shoving it in my mouth, forkfull after forkfull (this was after dinner, of course), so I put the fork down and came on-line. I am going to try to stay here until it passes, but I am already thinking about icecream. Hopefully that will pass too. I am stressed and tired, not a good combination. I hope everyone else is having a better night than I am. Hour by hour, right? The next hour will be better. Thanks.
