Unhappy Feeling ugly

I have lost 25 pounds since I started dieting, and I should feel really pleased about this.....but I am not all that sure that I do.

I have lost a lot of fat from my face and quite a lot from my chin / neck area. I saw myself in daylight for the first time in a long while yesterday (we don't have a window in our bathroom, just artificial light), and I don't like what I saw.

I look so....saggy. Where I have lost weight in my face I have quite obvious nose to mouth lines that I know weren't there a couple of months ago. I also look like I have saggy skin on my jawline and my neck skin looks rather wrinkly and loose when I touch it. I have heard all about all the problems with excess skin on your tummy and legs when you lose weight, but I didn't expect to see it on my face I am 39 and look more like I'm 50.

I don't feel too good about myself today.

Has anyone else had this happen? If so, did it look any better after a while, or will I have to just get used to the saggy look?

Don't let it get you down! Along the way, I've had days like that. Where I look at myself and think, ugh, not good. But those days pass. And most days, I think I look pretty good. Give your skin some time to bounce back and make sure you are moisturizing, especially around the face and neck. Stick with the weight loss, you'll be happy you did even if you're saggy after.

I'm 43, and there are days I don't like my neck area. However, it seems to come and go in waves. I do think it's taking time to react to the weight lost. As the previous poster mentioned, make sure that you moisturize and drink plenty of water.

Having said that, I walked ~6.5 miles this morning, something I could never have done in the past. Eventually I'll run that distance (maybe next year).

I think my face definitely shows my wrinkles more than it did when it was filled out with fat. But on the whole, I think I look younger and healthier!!

Don't get too worked up about it. I noticed the same thing when I had lost 20 or so pounds. My face looked jowly. Slowly as I lost even more weight my face returned to a much tighter package. I am soon to be 45 and am not saggy at all right now.

I always tell myself, over and over again, that right now I'm 270 pounds and I can't expect myself to look like I'm not. What I mean is, it is hard to know what you are going to look like when you are coming closer to your goal weight. The more things come off, the more you tone, the more activity you do, the better you will feel inside and out, the more this will show not only to you, but to the world.

*hugs*

Give things time and things will change and improve. That is what I keep telling myself anyhow. Today I had to tell myself that as I looked into the mirror lol. I should print it out and put it on my mirror as a reminder.

*HUGS*
