Great choice! Paula will never be replaced - she certainly was unique! At least Ellen won't be wearing those trashy boob featuring outfits unless she's changed her orientation!
I was just watching ellen when she annouced it on her show and was thrilled~because some of the other choices that was being considered such as shania twain And victoria beckham was just horrible to think of.
Ellen is a super choice.
Even if she does just do as crcossel says ~I wouldn't mind~ELLEN IS SUPER FUNNY!
Didn't anyone see her guest judge on SYTYCD??? Comments were typically, "well I don't know anything about dance but that was great!"
And then she would add in some jokes. It really was just another place to do stand up and no real judging. I like ellen but this is ridiculous.
I like ELlen, but that would be sad.

I already gave up on it because the constant nonsinging/judging time wasting and supposed melodrama is just excruciating. But I keep looking for a reason to like it again because I like the strictly singing & judging part. But I think it's hopeless So You Think You Can Dance is much easier to take.
My first thought was "what the heck does Ellen know abut music?!?" but I guess even though Paula should have some musical knowledge, it didn't usually come across so I guess it's no different.
I watch 2-3 episodes per season, so it doesn't really affect me anyway.

CRCOSSEL - couldn't have said it better myself - on every point you raised. It was painful to watch SYTYCD when she was on it. Just sugar to everyone, no constructive criticism. Don't get me wrong, I like Ellen - think her show is great but AI has jumped the shark.
They need someone like a Barry Manilow who was nice but actually offered useful advice.
I love Ellen and I hope that she does well on the show. If she just uses it as a chance to do her "schtick" then I won't be too happy about it, but I think she knows music as well as most of us know it--she knows what she likes, and if it sounds good, etc. At least she'll hopefully be coherent, which is more than can be said for Paula much of the time.
I'll give it a shot. I love AI. The winters are cold and dark and long here in the north, so it gives me something to look forward to. I definitely TiVo it, though, because of all the filler and fluff and commercials and stuff.
