I think it depends on a lot of factors. Does "free day" mean you eat whatever strikes your fancy and don't count it? Or does "free day" mean you have a range you'll stay within? The other days you're doing an average of ~1500 cal/day. Is that enough for you? Too little for you? How tall you are, how much you weigh, what your goals are, and how active you are all come into play when determining how many calories you need.

So here's my basic answer: If your calorie goal for the day is about 1500, that's the right amount of calories for you to effectively meet your goals in a realistic time frame, and "free day" means you'll stay around that 1500 calorie mark, then yes, that sounds ok for you!

well Ive been doing 1200 calories MOST days and seem to do okay with it...
Then someone on my message board told me that was to low and to do 1500, which is why I worked both of them in there. Im NOT starving myself and will eat and if I feel I need more to eat on 1200 days, then I will eat up to 1500.. if that makes sense.

My Free Day I have for Saturdays is mostly cause my husband and I go out to cracker barrell for breakfast and eat some kind of dinner out too that night (bad I KNOW).. but its just how we do things and I dont wanna deprive him or ruin a date night by not enjoying myeslf and having a 'planned out meal'. If that makes sense... So I will eat twice on my 'free day', but I know very, very high in my calories!

What is Calorie Cylce?

Is it where you eat different amounts each day to shock your body on the lower cal. days???

Very Interested In Finding Out More!!!

Pink Daisy - I do something similiar, though I don't plan my calories quite like that. I just kinda eat what I want within my calorie range each day.... which would be between 1400 to 1900. I don't plan it by calorie amounts... I plan it by what I want to eat that day then see what I come up with. As long as it stays in that range, I'm happy. I also do free days once a week, and usually use it for going out to dinner with friends or family (or even the occasional bar night)... but if I don't go out out, I typically still count my calories and stay in that range. So, for the most part, I typically have like 2 days a month where I go out and eat without really watching the calories and eat really horrible naughty foods.... hehe It seems to do okay for me, I've been losing pretty well and consistently. I don't know how long that will last the more weight I lose, but for now it's okay.

I'd suggest that maybe 1 or 2 days a month you allow yourself to have that free meal.... as compared to a free a day.... and then the other days you try to at least eat healthy (even if you are at a restaurant, i.e. lean meats, veggies, simple foods, etc). And if you go out more than once on your free day.... pick a meal that will be healthy and the meal that will be the actual cheater.

Just my suggestions though. It works for me!
