Here I am at almost 40 pounds down and I have not received one comment IRL about my weight loss. Truly, I was starting to think I was imagining my weight loss! I have noticed my clothes getting looser but even there it's hard to tell - my pants are always loose around my waist because I am such a pear that to fit my butt, the waist is huge!
Anyway...with fall approaching (yes, it really is here in the Northeast), I was going through my closet yesterday and decided to try on a barn coat that last year I could not button. Well....now I can button it with room to spare! So, FINALLY!, some proof that I really am doing this, even if it's not enough to be noticed yet!
I think it took about 50 pounds for people to really start noticing AND commenting on my weight loss. Lots of people notice but don't say anything for a while.
Hi Mainah,
I feel the same way sometimes, like why doesn't anyone notice I've lost weight! But this time it's different, I don't care if someone notices as long as I notice. Weather it be in the mirror or by loose fitting clothes, as long I see some kind of progress I'm happy.
Your doing fantastic, almost 40 pounds! WOW!!! By the way we miss you over on the Positive thread. Stop in a say hi once in a while.
i got alot of comments..like have you changed your hair style..you just look different.I was near 50lbs loss before anyone noticed.A dear friend commented your neck looks so long..have you lost weight..what a place to notice it first..LOL
I should point out if you're still wearing the same clothing it might be even longer. I always tended (still do) to loose fitting shirts over tighter pants. Until I broke down and bought a few new tops almost nobody noticed (a few did), and that was about 80 pounds down.
Right there with you on that one. I'm at 42. My clothes fit a little bit looser, but no big noticeable difference on the outside. I see it on the scale, but not many people have said anything.
Of course I've trumpeted to the world about my diet and exercise plan, so maybe I'm not giving them much of a chance? But yeah, other than my girlfriend who keeps calling me "slim" (such a joke - she is 5'10", blonde and a size 4), nobody has noticed. I sure as heck dont' see it in a mirror.
Oh well, I'm doing this for me, not for world approval, right?
Here's just my take on this... Sometimes, it's hard for people who see you daily (or even weekly!) to notice a change right away, especially something gradual like weight loss, because I'm sure you look a little different every single week now since you've been dropping the pounds, but it hasn't been a drastic change overnight. Does that make sense, or did I just ramble?
congrats on 40 pounds down!! great job!! congrats on nsv too with that jacket now fitting loosely. that's wonderful.
know what you mean about no one noticing, or saying anything, about weight loss. i have lost 50 lbs. so far, and no one has noticed, or said anything to me, either. it seems strange to me, but i have stopped trying to figure out why. probably some folks don't know what to say, if they do notice. i know in my case, i have gone up and down so much over the years, that some of my friends (who might notice?) may not be sure what to say, even if they have noticed. I have been losing this weight over the past 9 months, so it is pretty gradual, plus i have gotten some new clothes so they don't often see me in my old, bigger ones. anyway, all of that to say that i sure understand why it feels strange not to have received any compliments yet. for now, the compliments will have to come from yourself, and 3fc, of course. again, you are doing great! keep up your hard work! take care, and all the best to you.
Hi Mainah! Congrats on your 40 pounds and fitting into the coat. I'm down 36 and no one has said anything to me, either, but I know I'm smaller. I took out the coat I wore last winter ... it has both a zipper and snaps, and I could only snap a few of the top ones. Now it's big on me all over, it's so wonderful. Miss you.
I know how you feel. My bathing suit is now so baggy that the butt hangs down (thank goodness that it's covered!), but so far no one has noticed or if they have they just haven't said anything. Maybe when I get a new suit that fits people will start to notice. One of my children did say that my legs were starting to get skinny, so I guess someone did notice .
We just have to stay focused and not worry about what everyone else thinks.
