Good Morning

See you in a bit, Cottage. Thanks for starting our thread. Ruth, see you later, too. I think you should both get a bit of exercise credit today....maybe for "speed dressing".

Hi everyone. I've been busy this morning getting paperwork done so that I might have a semi relaxing Thursday. Tomorrow at this time I should be crossing the Continental Divide headed towards the Denver airport to pick up my DH. Three weeks is hard for me here, but I think it's long enough that Kirk is ready to attack another year in Colorado. The combination of rain and lack of everyday amenities have him ready to get back to civilization. Last night a squirrel had gotten into his shed/living area. I wonder if he got it out or if he had a little company last night.

Today I get to swim. I really missed it yesterday but am glad that I got everything done. My bathroom gal was great, and I took everything off my kitchen shelves and cleaned. I love my pups but the hair factor is immense. The deep clean should take care of that for at least a week.

SB continues to go well for me. I have gratitude for all you beachers who check in every day and keep me company along this road I journey on.

Have a great day everyone!

I'm back and have a few minutes to enjoy my coffee and chat with you all before running off to begin my day with my girlies.

Sounds like Ruth's wake-up was similar to mine this morning!

Good morning, Debbie! I know you're looking forward to your DH coming home, and I wish you a safe trip to the airport and back. Cindy has 3 dogs, and I know all about the hair. We're constantly dusting and vacuuming to keep up with it. And, why do dogs wait until they're inside to give themselves a good shaking? We need to train them to shake off outside before they come in!

Yet another hot, steamy day ahead. The girls are getting very tired and bored of each other's company and have been at each other's throats constantly. I'm having to dig deeper into my bag of tricks to come up with ideas to keep them happy and keep tempers in check. They do love to go to the pool, though, and I may take them to Stone Harbor for a few days next week just to get away. I think we'll all be happy to see school start.

Good morning Chicks It's good to be home HHH again here too. I'm going to stop complaining though because I dropped below 134 for the very first time. I'll survive a few days if I can drop a couple more lbs.

Cottage - Ah yes, the end of summer crankies, I remember them well A change of scenery sounds like a nice idea for everyone. Is your weather cooling down soon? Ours is really supposed to drop.

Ruth - Hope you solved the coffee problem

Debbie - Enjoy your swimming, your drive and your reunion. I love seeing your posts in the morning, thanks for being here.

My meeting got canceled so I have an extra day off. I am so happy about that. It was all feeling rather hectic and I have so much to do. Looks like this morning may be my one opportunity to pick berries so I'm out of here as soon as they open. Other than that the usual list of chores and things to get ready for vacation.

Had a surprisingly good time at my parents who have really come around. It takes them awhile but once they are on board, they are on board. My lovely new avatar are the flowers my brother and his fiancee sent us. They were a lovely surprise. Things are pretty darned good in my world right now.

Have a great SBD success story to share with you all. We talk a lot about how hard it is to stay on plan away from home and not wanting to make a big deal or hurt anyone's feelings by turning food down. Well I've discovered that we may be doing them a disservice by pretending that we want to eat that way. I've been pretty strict about the plan since I started and only make exceptions I have planned ahead of time (like one meal of fried clams when I'm in Maine). I never eat food just to make someone else feel better. I've been polite and slightly apologetic but explained why I can't eat whatever it is. That's meant doing a lot of educating about label reading - like why I won't eat the breads with whole grains or deceptively labeled Whole Fruit bars. After almost two years of this I noticed that my Mom has become really educated about food labels. She reads everything and is making similar choices for herself and moving my Dad along the best she can. She has lost 20 lbs without making a big effort and is walking at least 5 miles a day (I also bought her a pedometer after she asked lots of questions about mine). I am so proud of her - what a great change to make at 68! Now she is going to her doctor to see about lowering the BP meds she has been on for 20+ years because her BP is so low! I never encouraged her to eat this way, just was honest about my own choices and why I was making them. If I had just put up and eaten food I didn't want to placate her she never would have made this transition herself. We don't need to be SBD evangelists but there is something powerful about quietly educating people to make good choices.

Now to get to my chores! Have a good day all. It's great to be back.

Good morning chickies! I check in nearly daily, but don't often have time for personals. I need to get better though!

Ruth - I enjoy hearing your updates on the house. Can't wait to see pictures!!

Debbie - I hear ya on the hair factor. The (four) cats are in their own huge room mostly, I can't ever control the hair!! They are a joy though . (LOL...I accidently typed 'job' instead of 'joy' initially...freudian slip, eh??!!)

Cottage - Hope the kids keep under control! It has been hot and steamy, but not nearly as bad as I remember last year!

Me - I have today, then tomorrow at 2 I am on VACATION!! I can't wait! We're renting a cabin in a NY state park, very much looking forward to it. I normally hate Thursdays (b/c I work til 7 or later), but it's not bothering me today...only one day to go!!

The scale has been a bit scary though! I think what is scarier is I found my measurement chart. I sure have slid backwards!! I know it's because I ran 15-20 miles/wk last year, and I'm just not getting anywhere near that this year (esp. with the new house). I've been getting up early and doing a work out before work the last couple weeks, but it's just not the intense cardio a run is. But, I do feel better, since I'm stretching/working my muscles differently. I'll have to find some kind of happy medium.

My plan is after vacation, I'll do Phase I (or I.5, so I can have some fruit!!) when I get back. I find if I'm light on the fruit, and no grains, things go quite well. What I really need to do is be more ambitious about planning, I'm not getting enough veggies!!

Hope y'all have a great day!

Cyndi - that's awesome about your mom! Wish I could've done that for my dad...too late for him (he's wheel chair bound, no memory, etc.) You should be proud of yourself!

Twynn, just say Hi when you check in. To me, that is just fine. Personals are great, but sometimes don't fit into schedules. I miss your presence here. I chuckled, a joy and a job. They entrust their lives to us. I wonder what the dogs think when we follow them around the park and pick up after them. Now that's servitude..my job and my joy.

Cyndi, I'm so happy for your Mom! What a wonderful story. Thanks for sharing it with us. It is a statement of what I believe; that we can lose weight simply by modifying our food choices to healthier options.

Well, I'm off. I take the doggies to the park before swimming. When I'm finished at the pool, I just want to go home.

Whew! That was a flurry and I'm only in here for a minute or two as the plumber is on his way. I can't believe how much work there is and how many tradesmen involved in a simple 14' by 16' addition with a small bathroom! Looks like mid-September for a final completion date.

This morning I MUST at least get my baking planned for the Saturday sale. My cousin Lisa and her two kids are coming at 12:30 for a visit - not sure if they will have had lunch or not. At 3, I will take Disney to visit the nursing home since we missed on Tuesday.

"A field is not ploughed by turning it over in your mind" so I'm outta here.

Hey, how did it get to be Thursday already?
Today the kids have open house at the Middle school, so I'll run them over at lunchtime so they can see where their classes are.
And Project Runway starts tonight, woo-hoo! There hasn't been anything on TV all summer that I cared to watch, so I'm really looking forward to this.
If there aren't any storms, it should be a good evening for the pool. I want to take advantage of the last few days as much as possible.
I am stuffed with cottage cheese pancake, I haven't made that in so long, and it's so good, but it makes too much! I've gotta remember to halve the recipe next time.
Sorry I haven't been around much this week, but I thought it was for the best. I have been cranky and biotchy all week, just ask my family. It's partly TOM and partly my future ex-SIL's antics that are really ticking me off. Plus found out I have to go to Dallas next week, blech (no offense to Barb and Kiko!)

Debbie, you sound pretty happy today! Glad to see it. Enjoy your reunion!
Twynn, hope you have a great vacation.
I know what you mean cottage, DD is about bored out of her skull now. We start next week, woo-hoo!
Cyndi, I'm so glad things are working out for the wedding with your family. That's great about your mom. The only person I've affected is my DH, and he has no choice! But he likes the SB way.
Ruth, hope you managed to get dressed before the boys showed up!

Good afternoon everyone,

Debbie, I am so excited you get to see your dh. Have a safe trip
Tywnn- I am in the same spot as you, my scale and measurements went up this past year because I was not doing as intense workouts and it made a difference. I just finished two weeks of Phase 1 and started Phase 1.5 this week. Have fun on vacation.
Cottage- does school not start til after labor day there? we are back in full swing school mode.
Cyndi- that is a great motivational story- I need to remember to do that when I am with my parents- I try - but need to do better. My kids are slowly coming around - I don't give them a choice in some areas.
Ruth- Hope you get everything done today.
Schmoodle- glad you are over pms and chatting again

As for me busy day at work and I feel lousy- sinus pressure, sneezing and sore throat with cough- but can't go home, so I will plug along and deal with. Tonight have nothing planned so will just relax at home (hopefully as I am also oncall this week and my bb went off alot last night). Can't wait til Saturday to see if what I am seeing clothes fitting wise (loosier) translates to the scale.

Have a great day everyone.

I had to take Brian in to have blood drawn for a cholesterol test this morning. His doctor thought maybe the one done from a finger prick wasn't as accurate so we'll see. Stuff like that makes Brian dizzy so we had to wait for him to lay down a bit and get his color back. I'm hoping the numbers are better but either way, the food in the house is getting healthier.

We go this afternoon to his middle school for schedule pickup and to drop off a bunch of forms and pay a bunch of money. I hope he got what he wanted. I suspect the only real question will be if he gets Japanese since they have to have enough kids choose it for them to offer the class. I hate that they aren't giving a supply list until school starts on Monday. And Monday night is the first Boy Scout meeting. I guess we'll be frantically shopping for supplies in the few hours we have.

After being a hermit for the last month, I'm being thrown into popularity this weekend. My parents left for Ohio so I'm spending the weekend with Oscar and Sophie at their house, which I'm fine with. We'll snuggle and that's all. They don't ask many questions.

Turns out, Abdul is coming home this weekend, so he will be staying with me and the dogs too. Weird. He's home til Saturday, taking me out for drinks tomorrow night and Molly wants to go too. My friend Shawn is coming up for the Bangles and Heart at the IL State Fair, so I'll see him this weekend. And then, my friend The Midnight Swinger is driving through Sunday on his way to a show taping in St Louis, so he's going to stop by my parents' house to visit on his way down.

Um..... I may grab the dogs and tell them to suck it up and deal with no A/C at my house and shut my phone off. I haven't spent time with anyone besides my parents for over a month now. And there's a GOOD REASON for it! I'm not very pleasant!!!! I'm foul-mouthed, and bitter, and occasionally angry, and severely depressed, and so anxious I look like a crack addict going through withdrawal.

Should be fun. Sigh. I don't understand why I have to be social. I don't wanna.

Hope everyone is having a great Thursday. I have to run to Toys R Us to get a gift card to send Little Guy - his 6th birthday is Saturday. Then I'll pick up my new prescription from Walgreens, pack a bag for the weekend, and head to my parents' where Abdul will have already fed the little doggies, and we'll go get pizza. Moo.

Have a great night girls.

Lisa

Hi everyone!

It has been one of those days! I've had bad dreams for the past four nights, so I haven't been sleeping much. This morning I got up too late to check in here. When I walked in the door at work, my boss said, "After you put your stuff down, will you help me?" I was wide open for most of the day. We had our Annual Board Meeting tonight and I was required to attend, so I didn't leave the office till 6:30. Tonight I'm taking a Tylenol PM. I'm going to sleep!

Weezle, I hope that once you are out with your friends, you will have a really great time!
