Default Wetherspoons - Oh My God!

I went to lunch with my dad and brother yesterday, and we went to a Wetherspoons pub. I had already decided I was going to work hard to not consume too many calories, but was struggling to find anything that didn't look like a calorie-fest.

In the end I had a Chicken Pasta Alfredo, because I didn't think chicken, pasta and a bit of sauce could be too bad. Then on the way out, I noticed they had leaflets with nutritional information. 755 calories! And it was one of the lowest calorie dishes on the menu!

Some of the dishes had 144% of your GDA of fat, one dish had 2,000 calories! I really do appreciate that they've put nutritional information out, but when everything is so bad for you, I barely see the point. Why not just put a sign up outside that said 'trying to lose weight? Walk away!' In future, I'm going to get the kids spaghetti bolognese; it was the only dish that had a sensible amount of calories.

I always have the chicken cesar salad at Weatherspoons and I ask for the sauce on the side or none at all, I'll bring my own sometimes. I don't eat out there much, but when I do, I salad my self up all the way lol!

Wetherspoon make Macdonalds seem like the healthy option and that's saying something. Surely there's no excuse for such calorie laden, fat drenched food apart from corporate greed. It's cheaper to keep serving up the same c**p, than to radically overhaul the menu, so that it's healthier. Plus as long as we go there to eat, why should they change. The only action that could change the food in that establishment would be bad publicity, or a mass boycot and I can't see that happening somehow.

I haven't eaten in Wetherspoons since I started weight watchers years ago and saw the points values for their food in the ww eating out guide. A couple of the meals were the same points value as one of the guys in the group was eating in a day and guys get loads of points on ww!
